The prestigious Oberoi Concours d’Elegance recently created waves in the world of automotive connoisseurs as it brought together a breath-taking showcase of classic cars and motorcycles at The Oberoi Udaivilãs, Udaipur from 16th to 18th February, 2024. This distinguished event also marked a significant milestone for the group as it was held at the glorious 90th anniversary of Oberoi Hotels & Resorts.

Throughout its illustrious history, Oberoi Hotels & Resorts has remained steadfast in its dedication to showcasing and preserving Indian heritage, often hosting esteemed classic and vintage car rallies at its award-winning properties. The Oberoi Concours d’Excellence brought together a magnificent array of vintage automobiles and motorcycles from both India and abroad, set against the stunning backdrop of Lake Pichola. The event featured remarkable exhibits such as the 1925 Hispano Suiza H6B Transformable Limousine, commissioned for the Maharaja of Mysore; the 1939 Daimler ‘Dolphin’ Tourer, once owned by the Aga Khan; and the iconic BMW 328, symbolizing the brand’s prestigious automotive heritage and successes on the 1930s racing circuit. Adding to the regal ambiance, the event showcased vehicles from various royal collections, including those of Udaipur, Jodhpur, Gondal, Tehri-Garhwal, and Baroda. In a tribute to the late Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi, the showcase also featured a selection of Oberoi family cars, serving as a poignant homage to his enduring legacy. Additionally, The Oberoi Concours d’Elegance unveiled an exclusive poster crafted by the renowned automobile artist, Tim Layzell.
The event was overseen by India’s foremost automotive historian, Mr. Manvendra Singh Barwani. Moreover, an esteemed panel of classic car experts from around the world were invited to evaluate cars and motorcycles across various categories. Ms. Sandra Button, Chairperson of the esteemed and internationally acclaimed Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, presided as Chief Judge. Distinguished judges such as multiple world champions Giacomo Agostini and Jacky Ickx also graced the competition, ensuring that only the most exceptional vehicles are acknowledged. The event was skillfully orchestrated by renowned automotive expert Simon Kidston.
