The world’s most expensive Michelin meal will be served in space

If you dreamed of dining in space and having one of the most lavish meals of your life, your dream just came true! Deep-pocketed food and space lovers will soon be able to enjoy gourmet dining in the stratosphere by a famed Danish chef. Priced at a jaw-dropping $500,000 a ticket, the experience is out of this world (literally) and it will be the world’s most expensive Michelin meal in the world.

One of the first space-tourism companies, Space VIP, will host an immersive dining experience in space with Michelin-starred Denmark chef Rasmus Munk. It will allow six explorers to enjoy the most expensive Michelin meal above 99 per cent of Earth’s atmosphere during a six-hour journey.  It will be hosting the first stratospheric dining experience aboard the Space Perspective Spaceship Neptune, which is the world’s first carbon-neutral space capsule. During the journey, explorers will dine as they watch the sunrise over the Earth’s curvature and each passenger will be dressed by French fashion house Maison Ogier in made-to-measure outfits using cutting-edge fabric technology developed specifically for the excursion. It is also said that the proceeds from the expedition will be directed to The Space Prize in support of promoting gender equality in science and technology. “This is the first in a series of expeditions in partnership with leading artists designed to harness the power of space travel to elevate human consciousness and to promote universal space literacy,” Roman Chiporukha, founder of SpaceVIP, told The Post.

While watching the sunrise over the earth’s curvature, they will also be provided with Wi-Fi facility aboard Spaceship so that they will be able to livestream their space experience and even connect with their family and friends on Earth. As for the highlight of the world’s most expensive Michelin meal, the chef will cater his meal during a mission set to launch in late 2025 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Chef Rasmus will serve imaginative dishes inspired by the role of space exploration during the last 60 years of human history, and the impact it has had on our society — both scientifically and philosophically. “Immersiveness is central to holistic cuisine, and my ambition is to blend gastronomy with art and science to create awareness about social and environmental issues. In this experience, I want to highlight food as a common thread in our human existence, and it will be truly meaningful to serve it while gazing down at the Earth’s curvature,” Ramsus said. However, Chiporukha said that the food courses have not yet been finalized but will be revealed after the next phase of expedition planning. Munk is the chef of Alchemist, a Danish restaurant that was placed at the fifth spot in the World’s Best 50 Restaurants guide for 2023. Despite the skyrocketing price, Munk stated that a large number of people are more interested in the initial journey than the spaceship can accommodate.

Question is, could this be the only dream dining experience we were looking for? And how many people will be able to experience it? Thus making it extremely elusive.
