Megan Fox & other celebs unusual engagement rings

American rapper Machine Gun Kelly and his long-time girlfriend Megan Fox are engaged! On January 13, Fox posted a video of Kelly, whose real name is Colson Baker, proposing under a banyan tree. While Megan’s emotional video and caption did make us go soft, we took notes from the video posted by Machine Gun Kelly of Fox’s ring. Baker posted a video of Fox flaunting the ring, explaining the story behind the unusual engagement ring. Designed by Baker alongside jeweller Stephen Webster, the seemingly unified ring actually is two separate bands. One displays an emerald (Fox’s birth stone) and the other a diamond (Baker’s birth stone). The teardrop-shaped stones are set on two magnetic bands of thorns “that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” said the rapper.

In an interview with Vogue, Webster says that theirs was possibly the most romantic story he had to work with to create a ring. “He wanted something that was completely original and meaningful to both Megan and himself. He fed me lots of material in an almost lyrical form. I used this to create the two rings which become one,” said Webster of Machine Gun Kelly.

Like Baker and Fox, celebrity couples like ScarJo and Emma Stone all flaunt their unique symbols of love, that have been crafted with attention to detail. Scroll to take a look at the most expensive, gorgeous and drool-worthy rings in the celebrity-verse.

Making an appearance on this list solely for how unusually large it is, this engagement ring worn by actress Asin stands out, and how. The ring was given to her by husband Rahul Sharma, the founder YV Televentures, Revolt Motors and co-founder of Micromax Informatics, with whom she tied the knot in 2016. An eye-popping 20 carats, the stone is said to have cost ₹ 6 crore. The band made its way to India from Belgium and is reportedly engraved with the initials of the couple.

Jeweller-to-the-stars, Neil Lane designed Simpson’s engagement ring to Evan Ross back in 2014. The vintage-style ring consists of a 5-carat marquise-shaped diamond, the shape of which is unusual in itself. Set in platinum, yellow gold and surrounded by rubies and 140 white diamonds, it evokes a lovely Art Deco feel.

Solow & Co., the same jewellery house that created Hailey Bieber’s ring, designed Ariana Grande’s ring. Designer Jack Solow noted in a prior interview that Grande’s fiancé was extremely involved in the process of creating the ring. It was his idea to situate the diamond at an angle and add a pearl to the setting. Grande’s fans, aka the Arianators, believe that the pearl in the ring is the same as the pearl in an older ring her grandmother had made for her in 2014, giving it extra sentimental value.

Whoever said, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend,” clearly saw Emily Rajatkowski’s diamond ring. The square- and pear-shaped diamond duo is adorned with a yellow gold band. In an interview with Vogue, Ratajkowski shared that she worked on the design with her husband and went through almost “50 sketches” in the process. Her friend Alison Chemla, the jewellery designer behind Alison Lou, helped with finding the right setting for the ring.

Rather than opt for a traditional diamond, Emma Stone’s beau went for a delicate, luminescent pearl for her engagement ring. The couple chose Tokyo-based designer Kataoka for the symbolic piece of jewellery, that has a vintage setting with a sunken floral designed halo of diamonds. The ring starts at $4,780, making it a relatively affordable option for those interested in a non-traditional ring.

According to an unnamed source, Heidi Klum’s now-husband, Tom Kaulitz went the extra-mile for his supermodel, and himself drew Klum’s dream ring. The German musician then went in search of the right stone in Klum’s favourite colour, green. The ring is studded with an alexandrite, a stone that is described as “an emerald by day, and a ruby by night,” as it changes colour in different lights. The ring is also surrounded by several other diamonds selected by Kaulitz himself.

Katy Perry is ‘full bloom’ in love with fiancé Orlando Bloom, as is evident by this flower-shaped engagement ring. The on-again, off-again couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019. A deep pink stone stands at the centre of the ring, and is surrounded by eight smaller diamond petals. This cluster setting ring is preferred by the British royals, as Princess Eugenie and her mother Sarah Ferguson both have rings in this style. Even Orlando Bloom seems to be in love with the design as he presented ex-wife Miranda Kerr with a similar ring when they were engaged back in the day.

Lily Collins’ engagement ring is something you could picture her high-fashion alter-ego Emily wear on the regular. The ring is rose-cut, an antique cut that is flatter than the traditional brilliant-cut diamond, making it seem larger at face value. The bezel cut of the ring also allows one to see her skin through the diamond. Collins described it as “the most stunning, perfect ring,” thanking jeweller Irene Neuwirth for the customised design.

The Black Widow’s one-of-a-kind engagement ring features a dark brown band with a striking pear-shaped champagne diamond. Rumoured to be 11 carats, fans speculate it is made by James de Givenchy, the nephew of famed fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy and the designer of Taffin, a NYC-based jewellery brand. Taffin shared a nearly identical ring on their Instagram page, fuelling further speculation. Jewellery experts gauge the price of the ring to be between $350,000 and $400,000.
