Uppal Brewers & Distillers unveils ‘Madhvan’, Expands Premium Portfolio
India’s whisky story just found its next chapter. Signalling the growing confidence of its young spirits portfolio, Uppal Brewers & Distillers has unveiled Madhvan, a bold new blend of Indian grain spirits and fine Scotch malt whisky. Arriving just eight months after the debut of its first label Soorahi, this launch cements UBD’s rise as a serious contender in India’s premium whisky segment- one that is projected to grow at a robust 8–10% in FY26.
With Madhvan, UBD is aiming to shape a modern Indian identity in the glass. Taking its name from Sanskrit roots- madhu (nectar) and van (forest), Madhvan translates to ‘nectar of the forest,’ a fitting metaphor for its fusion of global technique and Indian soul. Bottled at 42.8% ABV and priced at ₹990 for 750 ml, it is currently pouring into Delhi and Punjab, with wider availability planned by year’s end.
At the heart of the expression lies the artistry of Master Blender Prabhat Barik. “Madhvan opens with inviting aromas of ripe pear, tropical fruit, and soft florals, before unfolding into rich layers of toffee, honey, and vanilla, with a gentle wave of spice. It finishes clean, with a lingering floral-fruity warmth. This is a blend born from conviction and created for those who lead with it,” he shares.
The design tells its own story- grunge-inspired palettes, neon tiger motifs, and urban minimalism, a visual language that appeals to an ambitious, style-conscious generation between 25–45 whose hustle demands brands that mirror their individuality and appetite for the finer things.

Ankur Sachdeva, Co-Founder & CEO, Uppal Brewers & Distillers shares, “The Indian whisky connoisseur is shifting away from labels that don’t have a distinctive Indianness and that aren’t an embodiment of their ambition, rootedness, and desire to lead. Consumers want stories, symbols, and a sense of identity. Madhvan achieves that, with a blend that doesn’t just taste bold, it feels bold. Every element, from the liquid to the pack design, to every sip is meticulously crafted to become the preferred drink in its segment. We’re delighted that, with this new addition to our portfolio, we now have access to a market which is four-five times that of Soorahi’s.”
Produced at UBD’s Derabassi facility in Punjab, Madhvan represents not only craftsmanship but also cultural resonance and bold storytelling. As premium spirits gain traction in India’s ₹5.3 lakh crore alcohol industry, UBD is positioning itself at the intersection of heritage and modernity, crafting labels that embody confidence and ambition.
