What to do in Mumbai this week?

As the city basks in a mellow, late-summer glow, Mumbai promises a spectrum of luxury- from indulgent dining and mindful Pilates to cultural immersion and pampering rituals, each balancing taste, culture, wellness, and style.

Whispering Clay: Celebrating a Life in Ceramics (11th – 20th September 2025)

Prakriti Foundation presents a retrospective from the estate of Vimoo Sanghvi

Vimoo Sanghvi (1920–2017) was one of India’s pioneering studio potters- a trailblazer who blurred the line between craft and fine art. Trained in England under Ronald Cooper and Marianne de Trey, she returned to Mumbai to build her own vocabulary of form, glaze, and texture. From early wheel-thrown wares to sculptural figurative works and her celebrated “By the Sea” series, her ceramics tell a story of modern Indian womanhood, artistic independence, and fearless experimentation.

This retrospective brings together over five decades of her work- nearly 500 pieces- many unseen since her last exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery in 1989. Through her vessels, figures, and abstract forms, Whispering Clay honours her “magnificent obsession” with clay and restores her rightful place in the canon of Indian art history.
