Winter fashion re-boot for 2023

Fall winter fashion has a special place in the hearts of many given the experimental nature of layering. The best thing about winter fashion is the addition of versatile accessories, from mufflers and snoods to boots, caps, gloves, earmuffs and more. But, winterwear isn’t complete without a few statement trench coats, knitwear and puffer jackets. Below, we’ve created a list of the best fashion staples to upgrade your winter wardrobe.

The easiest way to stay snug is knitwear. From oversized sweaters to cardigans and turtlenecks, nothing says winter much like this timeless trend. For a perfect blend of style and cosiness, opt for a Fair Isle sweater or a chunky cable knit sweater. You can even amp up the style quotient with a knit dress, thigh-high boots and stockings. But what’s more? Skirts which are a fashion favourite right now can also help you create a phenomenal co-ord set look. Winter and sweaters go hand in hand. Bring your cold-weather wardrobe to a whole new level with an outfit-making cardigan.

Looking to steer away from black and deep hues this season? Then, all you need are vibrant-coloured trench coats. Being the perfect antidote to depressing winter days, you can experiment with layering or colour blocking for a unique look. However, if you seek something more flamboyant you can even opt for prints or embellishments. Team the trench coats with fitted or bootleg pants and booties for a formal appeal.

What says winter without saying winter? The ultimate fashion staple: Boots! While boots have been a mainstay for decades, each year sees a revamped version of the age-old classics. From colour iterations to print and length upgrades. In 2023, skinny-heeled boots will be the most popular shoe on everyone’s feet, along with keen-high boots and embellished boots

The best way to stay snug? Cuddle up with your snood and scarf. A contemporary version of the scarf finds itself not only in outerwear but also in the form of blanket skirts and scarf wraps. But if you wish to go the conventional route, then the trend you need to have your gaze set on should be large scarves. To keep warm opt for a fleece or wool scarf and if it’s just for a fashion statement pick out a printed one that will work as the status quo, Designers are also experimenting with chunky, oversized fabrications like soft wool blends to create bouclé scarves.

Caps are back in a big way, and the 2023 SS runway saw the coming back of bucket hats. While these are a wise pick for the summer, the winter calls for options that are more functional. From the classic beret that has been famed by TV shows including Emily In Paris and Blair Waldorf in Gossip Girl; to beanies, caps add an effortlessly cool touch to any look. At once timeless and seasonally chic, the beret should be a permanent fixture in any fashion-lover’s wardrobe.

Be it leather or simply knit, gloves are more than nice-to-haves, but must-haves. Shoving chilly hands into coat pockets might seem fine for a quick step but in the long run, frostbites are unavoidable. For this season, several designers showed colourful mid-length leather gloves. A standout included a pair from Alberta Ferretti in deep blue, with topstitching, and wide faux fur trim. Yet another key style is knit gloves by Coperni.

Looking for a luxe formal wear option? Larger-than-life faux fur coats are the coolest and possibly most fabulous way to bundle up this season. Throw one on over anything and call it a winter’s day.
Puffer Jackets

The sporty puffer jacket now has a stylish relative—the padded coat. Insulated and warm like a puffer, the padded jacket is a softer, less technical take on the winter style, but provides a just as warm option.
