Making Indian designer wear budget-friendly and accessible, Varun Bahl ventured into the world of prêt wear in 2019. “I felt it was the right time to design a line that is, first and foremost, more accessible; second, a line that adds solid design value to a wearer’s wardrobe and enhances her personal style; third, a line that is trend-less and versatile so that each piece can be styled in a variety of ways with the wearer’s existing wardrobe. Anyone who wishes to dress in easy, well-designed, well-finished, modern Indian clothes is the audience I have in mind, whenever I’m designing my prêt collections,” shared Bahl.
Known for his work that marries Indian embroideries with a modern colour sensibility, the prêt line ranges from saris with abstract prints to contemporary separates like trousers, tunics, jackets, kaftans, dresses and more. Keeping prints and minimal embroidery as the focal point, the creation is lightweight yet enhances the beauty of the modern woman with classic and contemporary styles. With his upcoming prêt collection launching soon, Varun gave us a little insight on what we can expect in the new line,My upcoming prêt collection would consist of sustainable materials, comfortable fabrics and fresh silhouettes.
