One of the most iconic beauty brands in the industry, Estée Lauder roped in former Miss World 2017, Manushi Chhillar as its newest Global Brand Ambassador. Chhillar, who previously served as the face of Estée Lauder India’s Advanced Night Repair campaign in Fall 2022, joins a roster of celebrity brand ambassadors which includes names like Ana de Armas, Carolyn Murphy, Karlie Kloss, and Yang Mi.
In her new role, Manushi Chhillar will serve as the face of India’s upcoming campaign for Double Wear Stay-in-Place Makeup, launching later this month. “Joining the Estée Lauder family is a dream come true,” said Chhillar. “Estée Lauder is an iconic brand founded by a visionary woman, Mrs Estée Lauder, who proved anything was possible with hard work, passion, and dedication. Like her, I hope to be a role model for women around the world, inspiring them to believe in themselves and their ability to impact positive change.”

Manushi Chhillar appears to be the perfect fit for her newly appointed role. Post her 2017 Miss World pageant win, she actively participated in promoting women’s health and welfare. She started Project Shakti in 2017 to educate women about the importance of menstrual hygiene management whilst providing greater access to feminine hygiene products in India. In addition to Project Shakti, Manushi also partnered with UNICEF India to raise awareness for both menstrual hygiene and AIDS, while also working with UN Women on their #BuildBackBetterAndEqual campaign to speak up on violence against women.
“An inspiration to young women across India, Manushi embodies our brand philosophy of ‘beauty with a purpose,” said Dikshita Shukla, Brand Manager, Estée Lauder India. “Manushi’s vision and mission to support women’s rights aligns seamlessly with our core values, making her the perfect addition to the Estée Lauder family.”
Estée Lauder’s Global Brand President, Justin Boxford, spoke about welcoming Manushi Chhillar to the Estée Lauder family, “We are thrilled to welcome Manushi to the Estée Lauder family. In addition to her rising star power, Manushi’s dedicated use of her platform to bring about positive social change in India and beyond will enable us to continue to reinforce our brand’s commitment to championing women’s advancement around the world.”

What does inclusivity and diversity mean to you? How does Estée Lauder provide a platform for empowerment, inclusivity, and diversity?
To me, inclusivity and diversity mean recognizing and celebrating the unique qualities and experiences that make us who we are, without any boundaries. Estée Lauder has always been a leader in promoting these values; embracing inclusivity and diversity since its inception. By honouring changemakers who embrace authenticity and confidently showcase their true selves, Estée Lauder provides a powerful platform that inspires everyone to embrace their individuality. I’m thrilled to be a part of their upcoming campaign, which celebrates everyone just as they are, and it is definitely one to watch out for.
What do you think about Estée Lauder’s brand philosophy of “Beauty with a purpose”?
Mrs Estee Lauder is a powerhouse woman leader who revolutionized the beauty industry. The Estée Lauder brand has always stood for leadership, passion, and women’s advancement – values that have been reflected in their philosophy, vision and role to this day. Whether it’s confidence, courage or inspiration, the brand is focused on using its voice to ensure they celebrate the power of diversity and the beauty of individuality. And I stand by this vision completely.
How do you resonate with Estée Lauder?
As a woman (and someone) who has been vocal about having a strong female force, I believe it is important to align myself with a brand that is committed to advancing women. Because in addition to being a woman carving a path for herself, I am also someone working towards supporting other women in any way I can. Estée Lauder is a brand founded by a woman who proved that anything is possible with hard work, passion and dedication. Like Mrs Estée Lauder, I hope to be a role model for women around the world; inspiring them to believe in themselves and their ability to impact positive change.
What is your favourite thing about Estée Lauder?
The iconic Advanced Night Repair Serum! This has been my go-to product since the day I was introduced to it. With the nature of my work, certain conditions and a lot of travel can be quite harsh on my skin. I’m currently shooting an action film and my skin can be exposed to dust, smoke and dirt, so I always make sure I apply my serum which keeps my skin hydrated and radiant. I have it in all sizes – one goes with me in my travel kit, one stays in my make-up kit, and one is always by my bedside for my nighttime routine.

How do you think makeup and beauty align with women empowerment?
Makeup and beauty can align with women empowerment in several ways. It allows women to express themselves and their individuality, helping them build their confidence. By choosing to wear makeup or style their hair in a particular way, women can take ownership of their bodies and appearance, which can be empowering. Additionally, the beauty industry provides opportunities for women to excel and succeed in various roles, from product development to marketing and sales. Moreover, promoting inclusive and diverse beauty standards in the industry can empower women of different ethnicities and body types. Overall, embracing makeup and beauty on one’s own terms can be a powerful tool in promoting women’s empowerment and self-expression.
What are your earliest memories of indulging in makeup?
The first makeup product I ever tried was a tinted lip gloss. That was the only makeup my mother allowed me to use as a child. She would buy me little bottles of lip gloss in different colours.
What are three everyday beauty essentials you absolutely cannot do without?
I prefer a simple routine. My morning starts with cleansing my skin post which I apply moisturizer and eye cream. I always wear sunscreen – my go-to is the Estée Lauder Perfectionist Pro Multi-Defense Aqua UV Gel which has SPF 50.

The first thing I do, before going to bed, is double cleanse my face because I like to take off all my makeup. The first is an oil-based cleanser followed by a water-based one to remove any remnants of makeup or dirt. Then I like to use the Advanced Night Repair Serum followed by a deeply hydrating moisturizer and I finish my routine with the Advanced Night Repair Eye Supercharged Complex.
What are your go-to beauty hacks and tips?
I love mixing my Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Serum with my lipstick to create a blush for a natural, flushed look. I’ve also discovered that the serum tames flyaways, so I use a little bit of that to smoothen my hair.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is having a super lazy day, where I get to sleep a lot and just do nothing at all! These super lazy days are quite rare considering my hectic schedule, and so I really value them!
