L’OBJET opens their first flagship boutique at The Chanakya Mall, New Delhi
If your idea of luxury is a scented candle that smells like Versailles at dusk and a dinner plate that deserves its own security detail, we’ve some news for you. L’OBJET, the cult-favourite luxury design and fragrance house that’s known for making everyday living look like a Renaissance painting, has officially launched their first-ever Asian flagship store at The Chanakya, New Delhi.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in true maximalist style, L’OBJET brings with it a curated world of home décor, tableware, fragrance, and apothecary, each piece a masterclass in craftsmanship and intentional design. Founded by Elad Yifrach, who counts India as one of his spiritual and creative homes, the brand has already made its mark in New York, Paris, and London. Now, with the New Delhi opening, L’OBJET’s globetrotting legacy meets India’s rich artistic heritage.
Step inside the boutique and you might forget you’re in a mall. Designed by the visionary team at Anno Mille (also behind the Paris and London flagships), the space feels more like a stylish residence than a retail store. The front room channels a bright, lived-in elegance with custom furnishings and puzzle-like opus-incertum flooring made of hand-cut stones. Gently curved walls and asymmetrical shelving lend a soft, sculptural vibe.
Venture further and you’re greeted by a terracotta-lacquered archway inspired by Temple 17 at Sanchi—yes, L’OBJET went full Indiana Jones with its design references. The adjoining dining room blends Indian temple architecture with the glitz of Art Deco, calling back to a time when maharajas jetted off to Paris and returned with suitcases full of flair. Upholstered Jean-Michel Frank-style panels, carved lacquer bookshelves, and a bold fragrance table beneath a totem-like structure add to the cinematic charm.
The final touch is a plush, custom-designed rug created in collaboration with Jaipur Rugs. Adorned with red poppies and set against a terracotta backdrop, it ties the room together in that “my home is also an art gallery” kind of way.
Speaking of the grand launch, Elad Yifrach, founder and creative director, L’OBJET says, “The opening of our flagship boutique in India is a dream come true for L’OBJET. This city has long been a center of art and culture, and we are honored to be a part of its vibrant design scene. It’s an exciting new chapter for our brand, and we can’t wait to unveil the treasures that await within. My deep connection to India spans all layers of my life – from great spiritual journeys to working with incredible craftsmen and discovering its majestic cultural and natural landscape. I return often, and each time I leave more inspired, enriched by the human connections and therefore a deeper connection to myself.”
