No matter all said and done, Apple fans eagerly wait for annual updates from the tech giant. Last week, Apple has been making it to the headlines for more reasons than one. At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2022) on June 6, Apple announced a range of new technology developments for enthusiasts to look forward to. Here are the top three Apple updates to know about.
Apple unveils iOS 16
Giving the conventional iOS an upgrade, the new version by Apple not only has a new interface but a range of updates that make communication easier. iOS 16 will launch next year. At the event, Apple gave us an insight into what users can expect from the new update.
The new iOS will feature an all-new lock screen experience where users can personalise their lock screen. Being a customization playground, it allows users to experiment with fonts, widgets, create 3D wallpapers, and much more. The lock screen features widgets that takes inspiration from Apple Watch complications, making it easy to get information at a glance, such as upcoming calendar events, the weather, battery levels, alarms, time zones, activity ring progress, and more. With multiple lock screens, users can even switch between their favourites with just a swipe.
Further, they have also introduced Live Activities, a new feature that helps users stay on top of things that are happening in real-time, such as a sports game, workout, ride-share, or food delivery order. Notifications have been redesigned to roll up from the bottom, messages can be edited and emails on mail can be scheduled. Finally, SharePlay is coming to iMessage, making it possible to enjoy synced content and Live Text and Visual Look Up make the experience more seamless.
Say hello to CarPlay
The ultimate co-pilot as Apple calls it, CarPlay is a smarter, safer way to use your iPhone while you drive. You can get directions, make calls, send and receive messages, and enjoy your favourite music, all on your car’s built-in display. And CarPlay now features more app categories and custom wallpapers for your CarPlay Dashboard.
From predicting your destination, sending and receiving audio messages to quickly accessing the calendar app, Apple’s CarPlay also works with your car’s controls — knobs, buttons, touchpad or touchscreen. And the apps themselves have been reimagined for the car, so you can use them while driving safe.
