All of us remember the 9-episode series of The Assassination of Gianni Versace (2018) on the ill-fated death of Versace’s founder Gianni in front of his Miami Beach mansion.
Now this soon-to-release film House of Gucci is based on Maurizio Gucci’s murder. He, the heir of Gucci, was murdered by his ex-wife, socialite Patrizia Reggiani in 1995.
Italian-American singer, Lady Gaga, who is playing the role of Reggiani, has shared the first look from the sets of House of Gucci, alongside Adam Driver, who is portraying Maurizio, the grandson of the Italian fashion house’s founder Guccio Gucci.
The caption on the Instagram photo reads “Signore e Signora Gucci,” which translates to Mr. and Mrs. Gucci.
This crime thriller promises to be full of glamour and fashion. The film is currently being shot in Europe.

In the revealed photo, Lady Gaga wowed us in an all-black look, decked up in gold jewellery and a white Cossack cap, Adam Driver, too, took his part seriously, dressed up in a cream-white knit turtleneck and ski pants and the round-rimmed glasses.
Slated to release in the US in November 2021, House of Gucci is directed by Ridley Scott, known for his other genius projects like Alien (1979), Gladiator (2002) and The Martian (2015).
The script for this new movie is based on author Sara Gay Forden’s 2000 biography book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed.
It charts the actual events around how the luxury fashion label’s scion Maurizio Gucci was shot by a hitman on the steps of his office in Milan. Patrizia Reggiani was later tried and convicted of orchestrating the assassination of his ex-husband. She served her term for 18 years in prison until 2016.
The making of this movie has been in talks since 2006. Back then Scott was reportedly planning to cast Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead roles. There were several cast and crew changes in the following years, and in 2019, Lady Gaga and Adam Driver were finalised for the main roles. Other cast members in House of Gucci include Al Pacino, Jared Leto, Camille Cottin and Robert De Niro.
The Bad Romance singer, Gaga, was last seen acting alongside Bradley Cooper in the Oscar-winning musical A Star is Born (2018). While Driver was last seen opposite Scarlett Johansson in Noah Baumbach’s Netflix Original Marriage Story. (2019).
