German luxury car manufacturer Audi recently announced the launch of the Audi Q5 in India. The Q5 had been discontinued from last year’s line-up as the company was transitioning to B6 norms. However, this year it is back as a petrol-only SUV. A sporty look with everyday accessibility, the new model promises better performance along with an enhanced driving experience.
The outer face of the luxury SUV is where most of the changes have been made. The front has a larger single-frame octagonal grille with vertical chrome slats. Other minor changes to the exterior include LED headlights that have been redesigned, DRL and taillight units and 19-inch S-design alloy wheels, larger fog lamp housings, and silver roof rails and side skirts.
While the Audi Q5 is available in petrol and diesel engines worldwide, the Indian model will have only petrol units, with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TFSI petrol engine updated to comply with BS6 norms. Generating 245bhp and 370Nm of torque, the new Q5 has a top speed of up to 237kmph and can go from 0 to 100kmph in just 6.3 seconds.
The interiors got a few tweaks with new upholstery in Atlas beige and Okapi brown leatherette with Piano black inlays. Amplifying the comfort of the driver, the new Q5 has been equipped with features like front parking sensors, wireless phone charging, three-zone air-conditioning and ambient lighting in 30 different hues. The new Q5 also comes with eight airbags, including rear-side airbags, ABS with EBD and traction control.
The new Q5 features an advanced control panel with a 10-inch touchscreen along with the digital cockpit instrument cluster. The car comes preloaded with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Amazon Alexa for connectivity. Another highlight is the Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System with 19 speakers producing 3D sound effects at 755 watts output.
Available in two trims – the new Audi Q5 is priced at INR 58,93,000/- for the Premium Plus variant and INR 63,77,000/- for the Technology variant (both ex-showroom India). It is also available in five colour options – Navarra Blue, Ibis White, Mythos Black, Floret Silver and Manhattan Gray.
