Artworks “make it pop” at this Gurgaon address

Schenelle Dsouza
Standing out in the quaint lanes of Gurugram, this minimal but luxurious home by Essentia Environments is anything but mediocre. With no special requests or map in mind, all the owners asked for was to “make it pop”.

Spread across 7,800 sq. ft. the home is consistently neutral and minimalist. Walking through the main door, the foyer opens up to a study and a play area, with a double-height living area, branching into the fireplace, kitchen and bar.

The interiors are enveloped in a neutral palette of grey-and-white with random pops of colour in the form of artworks and décor pieces. The colour palette was chosen to compliment the landscape and architecture, outside the home.

While the bottom floor is a rather open space, the second floor holds the family lounge and three bedrooms, two of which come fitted with walk-in closets and open balconies on two sides. Each of the bedrooms are spaciously crafted with glass walls to be able to really enjoy a piece of nature within your room.

The large spaces are complimented with corresponding furniture, to enhance the space without making a fuss or seeming overcrowded. The furniture collaborates with the neutral colour palette. These are designed with crafty geometric work to add an edge to each room. Some of the walls are decorated with intriguing artworks and picture frames placed strategically to add the perfect pop of colour.

The material palette includes a thoughtful selection of luxury marble, high quality veneers like Sucupira Wood and Red Oak among other materials. These have been employed in a creative manner to add a unique character to the minimal décor. Marble has been extensively used. This presents a clean and sophisticated look, blending natural luxury into the spaces.

The large spaces allowed for elaborate space layouts with dry scapes accented with artworks, sculptural mirrors, washbasins and unique bathtubs in blue onyx, adding colour to the pristine white palettes. Modern pendant lights and chandeliers add a sense of sophistication.

Each room in the house is designed differently. While a minimal aesthetic runs through the home, each space features custom designed sculptural furniture specifically made for the space, commissioned artworks, and carefully curated accessories, each of which adds a different dimension to the spaces.

The accessories add an eye-catching element with their unique shapes, silhouettes and textures. The artworks evoke a certain mood and a pop of colour against the otherwise neutral backdrops. The scale adds a surprise element.
