German carmaker BMW India is all set to release the India-made 2022 X4 facelift. Earlier this week, the company celebrated a new milestone in its India presence when the BMW Group Plant Chennai rolled out its 100,000th locally produced car in the country – a BMW Individual 740Li M Sport Edition. And now the luxury carmaker is all set to release its all-new, made in India 2022 BMW X4 Facelift SUV which will hit the markets today on March 10.
The X4 is available in a limited-run X4 Black Shadow Edition and a standard X4 variant. The Black Shadow Edition comes in Brooklyn Grey and Black Sapphire exterior paints with an all-black interior tone and red stitching across two variants: the X4 xDrive30i M Sport and X4 xDrive30d M Sport. As for the standard X4, BMW could offer more colour options for the exterior and interior.
The new X4 debuted globally in June 2021 with a comprehensive cosmetic makeover, along with new features and more focus on technology. All of these updates are expected on the India-spec model as well.
The new model has a new bold exterior tweaked with elements like a redesigned kidney grille that is much larger than before, an aggressive bumper with adaptive LED headlights and taillights, and a rear bumper with gloss black inserts. The car also gets a new set of 21-inch alloy wheels and a coupe-like sloping roof design with a stylish panoramic sunroof.
The interior of the X4 features modern aesthetic with clean minimalism. While most of the cabin remains the same as the previous BMW models, the X4 sees new tweaks in terms of a reworked dashboard which holds a 10.25-inch fully-digital instrument console, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12-speaker sound system.
The model also comes with standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability which allow users to seamlessly connect their device to the vehicle. An integrated navigation system is also standard with a 360-degree camera and a heads-up display for safe driving. A few other notable features come in the form of three-zone climate control, an electric parking brake, an engine start-stop button, a tweaked centre console, and new controls for the gear lever selector.
The new X4 is offered with three different engine options in India – a 190hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel; a 265hp, 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel; and a 252hp, 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol. An eight-speed automatic transmission will be standard.
BMW has opened pre-bookings for the new X4 facelift in India. However, the booking can only be made via BWM India’s website, with the booking amount pegged at Rs 50,000. The BMW X4 facelift goes on sale on March 10 with deliveries will taking place on a first-come-first-serve basis.
