Much like its name, Bulgari’s latest collection ‘Magnifica’ is said to be their most expensive collection yet costing hundreds of millions of Euros. The luxury brand unveiled its magnificent collection of 350 pieces, which includes jewellery and watches at a two-day event in Milan.

Precious stones like emeralds and sapphires dominated the entire collection. The three flagship pieces of the collection – the Imperial Spinel, Hypnotic Emerald and the Mediterranean Queen – were the highlights of the collection.
The Imperial Spinel, created in Tajikistan weighs about 131.21 carats and is said to be the fourth largest spinel in the world. Set in a beautiful necklace, the enormous gem is surrounded by diamonds and emerald beads in a combination of green and hot pink tones.

According to jewellery creative director Lucia Silvestri, the spinel despite its large size is so light that it feels like sort of a “second skin”.
The Hypnotic Emerald is another iconic piece from the collection. This stunningly beautiful necklace is the iconic Bulgari Serpent that guards in its jaws a Colombian cabochon-cut emerald of about 93.83 carats. This piece of jewellery is said to have taken 1,800 hours of craftsmanship.

The Mediterranean Queen is constructed in gold and diamonds. It uses five cushion-cut oval Paraiba tourmalines that weigh approximately 500 carats. These are connected by sinuous and curvilinear elements set with cabochon emeralds and diamonds.

Paraiba tourmalines are absolutely among the rarest gems in the world, reminiscent of the green of the Mediterranean waters. A handcrafted masterpiece, this necklace required almost 2,400 hours of work.
Here are some of the other noteworthy pieces from the Magnifica collection worn by some actresses and models.
