The brand has been long associated with Cannes and annually creates an Haute Joaillerie collection featuring the exact number of jewellery masterpieces matching the latest edition of the Festival. This year, for the Chopard red-carpet collection, the artistic director of Chopard, Caroline Scheufele, has designed 76 Haute Joaillerie masterpieces that will be unveiled during the Cannes Film Festival 2023 by various global and Indian celebrities. These pieces take inspiration from Caroline’s travel diaries. According to her, architecture, painting, literature, dance, music or cinema, any detail is enough to create splendid masterpieces.

Bringing together Caroline’s creativity with age-old jewellery-making expertise, the Chopard red-carpet collection uses new materials such as titanium as well as novel stone-cutting techniques. Some of the standout pieces include the yellow sapphire ring surrounded with brilliant-cut diamonds. Another iconic piece is the dog collar necklace with diamond feathers skilfully crafted to form gossamer-light volutes. Nature also makes an appearance in the Chopard red-carpet collection in the form of a series resembling beautiful butterflies, and floral motifs. Emeralds, glistening diamonds, sapphires and yellow diamonds make the collection supremely breathtaking. From chandelier earrings to extravagant neckpieces, and sartorial rings, each piece from the collection makes a unique statement.

Additionally, as part of this collaboration, Chopard has the honour of crafting all the trophies awarded by the Festival jury, namely the Palme d’Or. The design is a reference to the palm trees lining La Croisette as well as to the city of Cannes’, the Palme d’Or was completely rethought and redesigned by Caroline Scheufele in 1998. Chopard chose to transform it into a truly precious jewel by using 18-carat yellow gold and rock crystal. The stunning Palme d’Or rests on a block of rock crystal in the form of an emerald-cut diamond and is crafted in fairminded-certified ethical gold. “The Palme d’Or is the starting point of our commitment to cinema”, says Caroline Scheufele.  “For 26 years, we have been crafting it with the same enthusiasm and passion in our Geneva Haute Joaillerie workshops. This is an enormous responsibility, because not only are we the only jeweller entitled to create this trophy, but its emotional charge and symbolism remain truly unique.”
