When horology collides with the world of art, the result is beautiful. The first time Hublot and popular French artist Marc Ferrero teamed up was last year in February. Together, they created an exclusive watch collection Big Bang One Click Marc Ferrero. This line was inspired by Ferrero’s most talked-about painting Lipstick, and featured two watches in fancy red and turquoise tones.
Even before the luxury watch connoisseurs realised, the duo was ready with their second collaboration. This time to launch two new Big Bang watches with doubled glamour and a crisp, clean colour palette of black and white.
Ferrero, 57, is a revered contemporary artist. His artworks are known for an unapologetic and unique use of bright colours and are majorly influenced by the 70s era, comics and TV series.
His painting Lipstick, bold, evocative and representative of the 21st-century woman, takes the centre stage in Hublot’s limited-edition watches. The watch dial depicts a woman in oversized black sunglasses, elegantly putting on red lipstick.
Both the watches in monochrome colours are limited to 100 numbered pieces. The first model comes in an all-white palette, with a satin-finished, polished stainless steel case. The white lacquered dial shows off the lipstick emblem covering the entire canvas, while the bezels gleam with 42 diamonds. Engraved with “Limited Edition” on the case back, the 39mm self-winding watch includes interchangeable calf/alligator leather and rubber strap for an easy-going look.
The second model with polished black ceramic work is strapped in calf leather and a rubber band. The bezel is beautifully contrasted with 42-diamonds set on it, and the dial is given a regal finish with black and white lacquered work. The only graphic contrast in play is the flashy red hue of the lipstick, making this collection all about the modern, enigmatic woman of the new age.
