Inside L’Occitane’s First Spa in the Heart of Jim Corbett

Call it one of the perks of being a lifestyle journalist, but I’ve indulged in my fair share of spa experiences across the country. The good ones relax and transport you. But then, you walk into some spaces that feel like they’ve been art-directed to perfection. That’s exactly the kind of vibe Aahana Resort & Spa delivers with its newest addition – Spa L’Occitane.

Spread across 13.5 acres of painstakingly restored land, Aahana has always been known for providing a conscious escape. The arrival of L’Occitane en Provence adds a global layer to this narrative, but in a way that feels intuitive, like it always belonged here.

L’Occitane en Provence traces its origins back to 1976, when Olivier Baussan began distilling essential oils in Provence, drawing from traditional techniques and the region’s rich botanical heritage. Over the years, that philosophy evolved beyond skincare into immersive spa experiences, with L’Occitane Spas launching globally as extensions of its terroir-led approach, where ingredients, textures, and rituals evoke a strong sense of place.

In India, the brand has taken a measured approach to its spa presence, choosing destinations that align with its ethos rather than scaling aggressively. After having its footprint at luxury retreats like The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa and JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, its arrival at Aahana Resort & Spa looks compelling. Instead of the expected mountain backdrop, the experience stands apart as the only one of its kind that is set within a forested ecosystem.

The spa itself is designed like a quiet sanctuary. There are five treatment rooms with an open-sky terrace, opening into a central courtyard. My pick was the Relaxing Aromachologie treatment, a 60-minute ritual that leans into gentle pressure, layered with essential oils of lavender, bergamot, and geranium. But the real magic lies in the build-up. A quick consultation as you sip onto your warm ginger-honey-basil concoction, and then a lavender foam foot soak that signals your body to switch off. During those 60 minutes of relaxation, you fall asleep. Not once, but multiple times. Honestly, that’s the only review a spa needs!

Beyond this, the menu spans everything from Sleep & Reset therapies to Immortelle facials, with prices ranging between ₹4,999 and ₹21,999. But what sets this experience apart is how seamlessly it spills over into the rest of your stay.

I checked into a four-bedroom pool villa, and the private pool became its own little ritual. It’s perfect for a pre-treatment dip, a post-spa unwind, or even a late-night swim that somehow makes you sleep better. The beds make you sleep like a baby, while the Kumaoni fare adds a grounding touch, leaving both your heart and tummy full.

The experience culminated in an intimate harvest lunch hosted by the resort in collaboration with L’Occitane, set against the backdrop of our dreams. One of the highlights was the bar programme by Angad Singh Gandhi that drew from local ingredients, keeping glasses and conversations constantly refilled.

Sharing her thoughts on the launch, Avni Tripathi, CMO & Director, Aahana Resort & Spa, says, “Aahana has always been built with a clear belief, that if you stay true to the land, everything else will follow. The way people feel when they are here, the sense of ease, the stillness, all of it comes from that connection. When we began engaging with L’OCCITANE, there was an immediate sense of alignment. Both brands are shaped by nature in a way that is real, not conceptual, and there is a shared understanding of care that is thoughtful, sensorial, and deeply rooted in place. For us, this collaboration is a coming together of two like-minded visions, where both brands add value to each other while staying true to their individual identities. As the Indian luxury travel market continues to evolve, we are seeing a strong shift towards experiences that are more immersive, more intentional, and more personal. This is exactly where Aahana sits, and this partnership allows us to build on that in a meaningful way. We are extremely optimistic about what lies ahead, and see this as the beginning of many such collaborations that will continue to strengthen and evolve the Aahana experience.”

On the partnership, Ms. Simi Devan, Country Head, L’OCCITANE India, shares, “Bringing Spa L’OCCITANE to Aahana Resort & Spa, Jim Corbett felt like a natural step. This is a destination where wellness is not an afterthought but a founding principle, and that aligns closely with how we think about our therapies.”

If you’re in or around Delhi and craving a quick reset from the weekly work chaos, this one’s worth the 4-hour drive. (just saying)
