Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman can’t get enough of the new Michael Kors collection

Michael Kors took a trip back to the 1940’s America in his Spring 2020 showcase at New York Fashion Week this year. The theme was All-American optimism and patriotism, iterated by Kors’ in his iconic couture creation. The runway at the Duggal Greenhouse in Brooklyn was set up like a green park, lavishly arranged with maple, ash and oak trees along with the chic range of clothing presented by Michael Kors. Celebrities from around the world were spotted at the show, Kate Hudson, Nicole Kidman, Lucy Hale, Emily Ratajkowski, Leo Wu, Olivia Palermo and Harumi Sato to name a few.

The fashion show also witnessed a captivating musical performance by New York’s Young People’s Chorus. This was an attempt by the musical team to enable children of different cultural and economic background to access music education and showcase it on global platforms.

The leading colours of the day were red, white and blue combined with a plethora of patterns, from stripes, polka dots and gingham to sparkles, floral, animal prints and tone-on-tones. Kors’ collection marched by the poised models featured stylish jumpers, track pants, sweaters, overcoats, blazers and military jackets for men and women. A variety of print dresses combined the quirk of ruffles and frills, while skirts came studded with gleaming embellishments. Accessories included mufflers, sunglasses, belts and handbags, offering a peek inside the aesthetically put-together looks of the upcoming season.

A red number by Michael Kors catches up to the season’s tone on tone trend in a glamorous way. The shimmery outfit is accessorised subtly with a red belt and is styled sans jewellery.

The pop of the yellow oversized jacket is a fashion remedy for times when a palette of black and beige need a dose of energy and contrast.

Structured yet free-flowing, this attire plays with two distinct patterns of floral and checkered. A white belt embraces the waist of the blazer and is twinned with a white handbag.

The bucket hat is the attention stealer here. A neutral-toned cape coat is teamed with grey loose pants to fashion a mix of athletic and military finish.

Striped coordinates meet a solid white muffler, which resembles the white jumper sported by the model, along with white footwear and a white weekender bag.

In its revival of past America, Kors fused colours like white and navy blue to interpret a lookbook inclusive of functionality and luxury. A classic white blazer compliments the blue sweater and fit blue pants, improved further with black oversized sunglasses.
