Kourtney Kardashian tied the knot with Travis Barker for the third time in Italy on Sunday. The duo had not one, but three wedding ceremonies altogether.
For her ceremony in Italy, Kourtney ditched the white wedding gown, opting for an unusually short, corset style wedding dress teamed with a dramatic veil. While it is unusual, this isn’t the first time celebrity brides have swapped fancy wedding gowns for non-traditional ensembles instead.
Take a look at some of our favourite, unconventional wedding outfits below.
Keira Knightley had one of the most adorable wedding dresses ever. She picked a dress from Chanel’s couture spring/summer collection, 2006. The pale grey tulle dress was styled with a Karl Lagerfeld tweed jacket, Chanel ballet pumps and a diamond pendant.
Kourtney Kardashian wore a Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda number for her wedding to Travis Barker. The corset-style mini dress was adorned with silk, satin and lace and is said to be inspired by Italian lingerie from the 1960s. She paired the dress with a hand-embroidered veil that featured floral lace appliqués inspired by the flowers of the nearby Portofino gardens, a large depiction of the Virgin Mary and the words “family, loyalty, respect”. White lace pumps and tulle gloves completed the look.
British singer Lily Allen went for a chic 60s-inspired design by Dior for her Vegas wedding to American actor David Harbor. The dress which was reportedly bought only hours before the wedding, featured a bateau neckline, round black buttons and a skinny belt and was paired with a short veil.
Meghan O’Toole King
American TV personality Meghan O’Toole King wore a chic blazer dress by Rasario for her wedding to Cuffe Biden Owens. The actor stated that she wanted to ditch the traditional rule while maintaining the “…something new, something old, something borrowed and something blue” theme. She paired the outfit with diamond studs borrowed from her sister, a pair of blue Manolo Blahnik Hangisi pumps and a birdcage veil.
Avril Lavigne was known in the early 2000s for her goth style. For her wedding to Chad Kroeger, Lavigne stayed true to character and opted for a gothic- themed wedding. The singer graced the aisle in a stunning black Monique Lhuillier gown that had a lace bodice and tulle skirt. Adding to the dramatic look, Lavigne donned her signature dark eye makeup and a bouquet of black roses.
Complementing the stunning Moroccan ambience, Diana Agron wore a dreamy embroidered Valentino gown for her wedding day. The nude chiffon gown was embellished with embroidery in gold, rose gold, gunmetal and mauve. She also ditched the veil for a crown adorned with silver stars.
Kat Von D
Fittingly, one of the most dramatic weddings ever, Kat Von D went all red for her wedding day. She dressed in a custom Adolfo Sanchez that was the brightest shade of red, with a matching lace veil which was accessorised with red antlers.
A dress fit for a wedding party, Piper Perabo wore a striking metallic gown by Michael Kors. Keeping the glamour to the outfit, Perabo paired the long-sleeved silver and nude pattern gown with a yellow veil and pastel roses.
Pants and jumpsuits
Amal Clooney has by far one of the most versatile looks. For her civil wedding ceremony, Amal decided to ditch the wedding gown and opted for a very chic Stella McCartney ensemble. The cream trouser-top combo was accessorised with a matching hat, cream purse and minimal makeup keeping the look simple yet stunning.
Ditching both white and a dress for her wedding, model Emily Ratajkowski opted for a comfortable but chic look for her wedding day. The model wore a mustard yellow pantsuit combo from Zara. She paired the outfit with a black wide-brimmed hat that was decorated with a dark birdcage veil.
American television writer Lauren Morelli and her bride Samira Wiley both wore custom Christian Siriano wedding ensembles. While Samaraira looked like a vision in her white off-shoulder gown, Morelli opted for a classic white jumpsuit, with a cape and an intricately jewelled bodice that added just the right amount of bling.
Jumpsuits with capes are a dreamy match made in fashion heaven. Beyonce’s little sister Solange opted for a cream coloured jumpsuit designed by Stéphane Rolland that featured a risque low cut in the front with a triangular opening at the back. The outfit was supported by an elegant cape, with a bright red lip and natural hair texture shining through.
