At the stunning seaside venue Bayview Lawns at Mumbai Port Trust, Jaguar Land Rover launched Discovery Sport on February 13. The BS-VI compliant SUV comes in two variant—S and R-Dynamic SE and is priced at ₹57.06 lakh onwards. The 5+2 seater enters the market merely 15 days after the launch of Range Rover Evoque, which was launched on January 30.

The luxury SUV is available in 2 litres turbocharged petrol with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, which produces 183 kW and 365 Nm of torque and its 2 litres turbocharged diesel produces 132 kW and 430 Nm of torque.

This beautiful beast comes with the new Land Rover Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA), which enhances the car’s performance. The all-wheel-drive and hill descent control ensures smoother drives; while the All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) helps maintain a steady speed on challenging terrains. The Terrain Response 2 technology automatically detects the type of terrain and adjusts the control of the car as per the surface it is being driven on.

Of note is its all-new LED headlights, which gives an edge to the smart design of the car. This technology produces a highly focused beam, which is closer to the colour of daylight. The boot space is 981 litres and can be expanded up to 1,037 litres by folding the two rear seats. Equipped with six airbags, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof and multiple USB ports, it has a wading depth of 600mm.

For the first time, Land Rover has introduced the clear-sight interior rearview mirror in its car. This is an innovative technology that provides an unobstructed view of the road behind, regardless of the objects that would normally disrupt it through the standard rearview mirror like passengers, bags or large rear loads. An additional camera is placed in the antenna roof pod at the rear of the vehicle, while a video feed is displayed, providing an improved field of view.

It further strengthens the distinctive design and versatility that has made the Discovery Sport one of the leading models in the Land Rover portfolio,” he says.
