New York’s Central Park Boathouse restaurant reopens with a refreshed vision

New York City’s Central Park is not just a green oasis in the heart of the bustling metropolis; it’s also home to some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Among them stands the Central Park Boathouse, a quintessential New York institution that has been a beloved destination for locals and tourists alike since its opening in 1954. After shutting down in September 2022, the Central Park Boathouse restaurant has finally reopened and this time it’s a whole lot better with a refreshed menu of refined American classics.

Nestled amidst the bustling urban landscape of New York City lies the tranquil oasis of Central Park, a verdant retreat that beckons both locals and tourists alike. With its sprawling lawns, picturesque waterways, and iconic landmarks, Central Park stands as a symbol of respite and recreation in the heart of the metropolis. From leisurely strolls along tree-lined paths to iconic sights like Bethesda Terrace and Bow Bridge, Central Park captivates visitors with its timeless charm and endless possibilities for exploration. The Central Park Boathouse restaurant has been take over by Legends, the company that runs the food outlets at Yankee Stadium and elsewhere, is now the operator, and the executive chef is Adam Fiscus, working with Dave Pasternack, the consulting chef. Dave Pasternack, formerly of seafood spot, Esca, is consulting on the menu that includes oysters Rockefeller, beef au poivre, and Yorkshire pudding,The space has been updated to reflect the colors of the birds seen around Central Park, including bluebirds and other avian inhabitants of the park. Visitors can record their sightings in a Boathouse bird registry.

The exciting new café menu is a culinary oasis that complements the overall Boathouse experience. So what can you expect at the restaurant?  At the revamped restaurant you’ll have the chance to indulge on American classics, including oysters Rockefeller, stuffed mushrooms, and fish and chips at lunch, spaghetti with lobster, filet of beef au poivre, and prime rib with Yorkshire pudding. For dessert, cheesecake is a refreshing end to the meal. The brunch menu will include crab cakes Benedict, children will be able to indulge in a three-course kids’ menu. An outdoor café serves more casual fare—like breakfast sandwiches, burgers, and salads—and the indoor Fireside Room includes a courtyard.

From intimate lunches on our 80-seat outdoor patio to romantic rows down memory lake, every moment at the Boathouse is a celebration of togetherness. There’s also a new indoor cafe area, the Fireside Room has a courtyard. Dockside dining with a separate menu will open later. New York’s Central Park Boathouse the venue is a testament to the resilience of New York City, standing strong as a beacon of joy and connection amidst the hustle and bustle of urban life.
