Oktoberfest comes to Mumbai’s pubs and breweries this year

Though the original Oktoberfest will not take place in Munich this year, Mumbaikars can head to these bars and restaurants to celebrate throughout October. Read on to know more about the best Bavarian-inspired menus, and exclusive Oktoberfest ales.
BrewDog, Lower Parel

BrewDog is celebrating their annual Collabfest in honour of Oktoberfest. The brewery has collaborated with brands like Goa Brewing Co., Toit, Great State Ale, BrewBot, Brewolf Brewing, 2 Down Beer Co., for a 10-day craft beer festival, so you can get all your favourite ales in one place! Chef Gaurav Gidwani, F&B Head, BrewDog India will also be curating a special hot dog menu for the occasion.

Brew Whale, Khar West

To celebrate Oktoberfest, Brew Whale has launched their take on the popular Munich Helles Lager. A pale gold beer with a frothy white head, this one packs a bread-like malty flavour. With a low ABV of 4.2 per cent, it is the perfect brew for a long afternoon relaxing with friends. The brewery has also introduced new merchandise, 1 litre beer steins, for the festival.

Drifters Brewery, Andheri, Bandra, Powai and Thane

Drifters Brewery has on offer Märzenbier, an Oktoberfest specialty lager that originated in Bavaria. The medium-bodied amber hued brew has a toasty malt bouquet with a sweet/bitter finish. Order from their outlets spread all over the city, including a newly opened Drifters Growler Station at Thakur Village, Kandivali.

Gateway Brewing Co.

Get your dose of Oktoberfest specials at Gateway Brewing Co.’s retail outlet in Colaba or taproom in BKC. Brew Master Navin Mittal has crafted a vast collection of German Brews that will be available even for deliveries. The menu will consist of Bomberg, modelled after the smoked lagers of Bamberg, Germany, and Festbier, which is a Munich Helles style brew that is consumed in copious quantities in Munich during Oktoberfest.

With a menu of delicious Bhut Jolokia Chicken Wings, Lamb Reuben, Beer Battered Fish with Tartare Sauce Seven Kitchens celebrates Oktoberfest. Pair this menu with a special ‘Brew Bucket’ of three beers. Choose from options such as Hoegaarden, Corona, White Owl’s Diablo, Spike and Spark beers.

On tap at Toit is the classic Oktoberfest Lager, Märzen. The brewery also has a menu of special Bavarian dishes for the festival, including a Sausage Schwartzen Platter of pork sausages, served with beer-flavoured mustard, German potato salad, home-made sauerkraut, braised red cabbage and Bavarian mash. The Rouladen, a traditional German dish, slathered with mustard and filled with bacon, onions, pickles, slow cooked in a rich gravy makes it to menu, as does a sea salt pretzel served with Obatzda—a traditional beer-cheese dip.
