By Arushi Sakhuja
The Oscars, an event renowned for celebrating cinematic excellence, is equally renowned for its glamorous red carpet extravaganza. This year’s red carpet was no exception, as Hollywood’s celebrities stepped out in an array of stunning ensembles that captivated audiences worldwide. And in terms of winners, it’s no surprise that Oppenheimer stole the show. From timeless elegance to bold statements, the fashion at the 96th Academy Awards was nothing short of spectacular. With Arianne Grande’s ruffle flowing gown to Zendaya’s standout Armani Privé Gown and Greta Lee’s monochrome ensemble, let’s delve into some of the standout looks of the Oscars 2024 and the designers behind them.
Zendaya
Zendaya turned heads on the carpet as she channelled her love for Armani Privé. Wearing a one-shoulder, black-and-pink Giorgio Armani Privé Palm Tree Print Pink Dress she was styled Law Roach. Her hair in soft waves, the satin gown featured an embroidered palm tree print and an embellished bodice of paillettes in gunmetal. The actress chose not to wear a necklace with the look, opting instead for earrings in pink gold featuring diamonds, pink tourmalines, morganites and mandarin garnets.
Anya Taylor-Joy
Stunning in a custom-creation by Dior was Anya Taylor-Joy at the Oscars 2024 red carpet. The outfit was inspired by the Junon dress from the Fall/Winter 1949 collection. The original skirt of ombré petals was meant to mimic the look of peacock feathers, and Taylor-Joy certainly looks as regal as that feathered symbol of royalty. The high sparkle ensemble was teamed with diamond jewellery to complete the look.
Emily Blunt
Being a first-time Oscar nominee, Emil Blunt celebrated in statuesque style. The Oppenheimer star wore a gold, gravity-defying Schiaparelli gown and paired it with a layered Tiffany & Co. necklace a messy updo, and glowing glam.
Ariana Grande
The Wicked star made her Oscars debut with a nod to voluminous silhouettes. She opted for a custom pink Giambattista Valli Haute Couture creation which was styled by Mimi Cuttrell. Grande wore the column dress with layered trail Tiffany & Co. earrings and a necklace. The custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture ensemble featured voluminous sleeves and a trailing train. She finished the look with white gold pendant earrings and a necklace, both finished by pink stones, by Tiffany & Co.
Emma Stone
Out of the looks Emma Stone’s soothing seafoam Louis Vuitton number proved that peplums are back. Featuring a dramatic peplum silhouette, she kept her accessories minimal with a diamond and yellow diamond necklace and left her tresses open. Definitely one of the looks that spelt out elegance on the Oscars 2024 red carpet.
Greta Lee
One of the best looks on the Oscars 2024 red carpet was by none other than Greta Lee. She continued her reign over the red carpet in a flowing Loewe gown built for a goddess. The look is straight from the Fall/Winter 2024 runway, with a draping white cape that falls off the back of her shoulder. With a monochrome colour scheme, the black and white gown featured and interesting drape that further accentuated her body type. A sleek updo, diamond earring and a matching bracelet completed the look.
Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh turned heads on the Oscars 2024 red carpet in a Del Core gown. Featuring a soft peplum corset and Swarovski, she paired her look with Bulgari jewels. The sheer corseted bodice featured a plunging neckline and a floor-sweeping satin skirt. Looking straight out of a fairytale, she styled the remarkable look with side-parted open blonde locks, berry lips, and a Serpentine necklace.
Margot Robbie
For Robbie, minimalism was the anthem. She sparkled in a strapless black Versace dress with a structured bodice and draped waistline. Moving away from pink, she styled the look with simple, effortless hair and makeup and wore a bracelet for some added dazzle.
Michelle Yeoh
A celebrity known for her grace, Michelle wore a sequin Balenciaga gown teamed with opera gloves to the Oscars 2024 red carpet. Keeping the focus on the gown, she teamed it with a watch over the gloves and diamond earrings. She proves that no matter your age, you can own the red carpet and ooze with glamour.
