Versace
Continuing with the logo craze, the Italian luxury brand releases its Resort Wear 22 collection that is irrefutably, ‘Very Versace.’ Featuring A-line, ’60s era short skirts, the designs play with psychedelic colours, really emphasizing playfulness. The chunky platform Mary Janes and go-go boots are coloured in bright Barbie doll shades of pink and lavender. It seems to be the ushering in a “new normal. Chief Creative officer of Versace, Donatella Versace agrees, “This season is about having fun with fashion again.”

Louis Vuitton
A short movie featuring LV’s Cruise Collection was shot in the striking location of Axe Majeur, a sculpture park outside of Paris. It was designed by late Israeli artist Dani Karavan. Think a long outdoor ramp with models, framed by a red cage, strutting down in bright blues, greens and reds that personify the collection. Nicholas Ghesquière mixes cosmic and the everyday. The collection’s fun twist on military silhouettes, sci-fi imagery, and pop-art worthy bags screamed playful fashion.

Dior
Dior is making waves for not only its Cruise Collection 2022 but also its beauty looks displayed on the runway. Makeup artist Peter Philips worked with delicate pearl face decals in various styles. Some simple, with stones places in the inner corners and others lining the entire eye. Inside the iconic Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, the fashion was inspired by a series of photographs of one of Monsieur Dior’s haute couture lines, taken near the iconic Parthenon in 1951. A combination of sportswear with flowing Hellenic silhouettes, and attention to detail in the form of body belts and gold-tinted accessories are the heart of this new collection.

Prabal Gurung
Set against a riot of colours, culture, fragrances and dialects is Prabal Gurung’s Resort 2022 collection. Chinatown, one of Gurung’s favourite places in New York City is the backdrop for the looks that are vivid in their colour palette. The pastel peplumed co-ord sets, clingy mini dresses, midi florals are accompanied by punctuated by black tailored suits and dresses. The photos capture the fun flirty collection against the grit and character of Chinatown, painting a picture of something that’s quintessentially New York.

Carolina Herrera
Another ode to post-pandemic joy, Wes Gordon, Creative Director at Carolina Herrera says, “As I designed this collection, I was daydreaming of all the things I’m looking forward to. Travel. Friends. Dancing. This is your wardrobe for a 24-hour destination party.” Some of the style is reminiscent of classic Herrera, like a blouse-and-ball-skirt combo and some of it decidedly informal, such as a sequin T-shirt dress.

Elie Saab
In Saab’s own words, the collection is “Made for capricious fun and whimsical pleasure.” The Infinite Horizons Resort 2022 collection is a playful one, as seems to be the trend. Fully fringed sleeves, full-bodied pleated skirts, micro-embroidery, big florals and long hems define Saab’s looks. The collection, filmed in a garden also emphasizes his logo heavy accessories, including bags and belts.
