Breaking news! Entering the make-up conversation for the first time ever, Prada is expanding its beauty offering and we can almost hear the hype already. Prada, a luxury brand known for their successful fragrances, is expanding into the beauty industry by launching skincare and makeup products. With their proven track record in fragrances, it’s not surprising to see Prada entering this new market. Their vision for beauty will include two new categories: makeup and skincare. The brand is reimagining existing definitions and expectations with an avant-garde vision of beauty activated by tech and creativity.
The Italian brand is launching makeup and skincare via a licensing partnership with L’Oréal. This collection includes 26 different shades of ‘Monochrome’ lipstick with hyper matte and soft matte textures, six eyeshadow quads named ‘Dimensions’ that are inspired by classic Prada prints, a lip balm, 33 shades of ‘Reveal’ foundation that are AI-driven, three skincare products called ‘Augmented Skin’, and a set of ten brushes and tools. The collection is a combination of Miuccia Prada’s signature vibrant colour palette and technology-driven textures, which reflects the fashion house’s iconic blend of artistry and innovation.
Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons, co-creative directors of Prada, said beauty for them is “Abandoning all the clichés of the past, we believe that beauty today is to represent one’s personality, freedom and self-confidence.”
Set to launch on August 1, the range will feature a variety of products including lipsticks, lip balms, eyeshadows, foundations, day and night creams, serums, cleansers, and makeup removers. The majority of the products are refillable, and the brand is also introducing multi-use beauty tools such as brushes and sponges for complexion, lips, and defining the eyes.
The eyeshadow palettes showcase their maximalist culture and feature their well-known triangle shape from the logo. Each palette showcases a variety of colours. The packaging has a luxurious chrome finish and can be refilled. The palettes also feature pistachio green lid interiors and lipstick bullets with Saffiano leather finishes.
Tech and beauty
Prada combines technology and beauty to offer a range of unique products. Their skincare range includes a serum and cream that utilizes the brand’s ‘Adapto.gn Smart Technology’ to assist the skin in adapting to the environment. This technology is created from a family of 15 rare plants that can withstand extreme conditions. It is then combined with active ingredients like proxylane, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, ceramides, and adaptogens to refresh and strengthen the skin barrier.
