New York Fashion Week 2021 is an all-digital affair this time around. The biannual showing of new collections completed its Fall/Winter 2021 shows yesterday.
Designers like Jason Wu, Markarian, Imitation of Christ, Anna Sui, Nicole Miller, LaQuan Smith, Kim Shui, Tadashi Shoji filled the fashion forward schedule. Here are the hottest looks from NY Fashion Week 2021.
Jason Wu
Mr. Wu’s General Store, a wholly unusual setting was the runway for Jason Wu’s Fall/Winter 2021 collection. The space was filled with fresh produce, and guests could fill grocery bags to take with them after the show, the rest of the food was donated to City Harvest, a New York non-profit. A palette of red, white and black dominated the couture. Coca Cola motifs, abstract prints, billowing material reigned supreme at one of the few physical shows at NYFW.
Prabal Gurung
In a love letter to New York City, Prabal Gurung’s NYFW Fall 2021 collection, is IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE. Romanced by city where even the simplest pleasures feel decadent, Gurung uses pinks and reds layered with polka dots. Voluminous skirts, structured hems, pleated fabrics and exaggerated cuts make this collection truly, dramatically New York.
Badgley Mischka
This designer duo’s Fall 2021 collection brings new meaning to the theme of glamour. An ode to the celebration of events long postponed, to meeting up with friends after a long whileTitled “The Return to Wonderful”, it shimmers with sequins, boxy checks, and pleated silhouettes.
Rebecca Minkoff
Masked models lad in a jarringly pleasant combination of spring florals and edgy suede. With the New York City, a concrete jungle, and an escape for the bohemian, as the muse, Minkoff captures the essence of the feminine and masculine.
Bibhu Mohapatra
The Indian-born American designer dedicates his NYFW 2021 Fall collection to the artist, the muse and the unsolved formula of love between the two. Using body conscious silhouettes for fall, the looks include shades of fuchsia, mustard, and whites.
Anna Sui
Inspired by the limbo situation we find ourselves in, Anna Sui’s collection personifies the world the awaits us at the end of the tunnel. Exuberant with psychedelic colours and patterns, the designer mixes traditional with whimsy, black and white with bright ambers and magenta.
Proenza Schouler
The Proenza Schouler Fall Winter 2021 collection is for the modern woman, created to comfort and inspire. New York based womenswear and accessories brand creates a duality by mixing sharp, structured tailoring with soft, encompassing knitwear.
