The luxury industry has had a busy week, with Bvlgari releasing its Octo Finissimo Ultra timepiece of its popular record-breaking Octo series. The world of watchmaking also saw Richemont sell its shares of Swiss company Greubel Forsey, while L’Occitane bought shares in Australian clean beauty brand, Grown Alchemist. Luxury goods group Richemont which also owns Cartier, Chloé, Dunhill, IWC Schaffhausen, has sold its entire 20% stake in Swiss watchmaker Greubel Forsey, which it first acquired in 2006. 100% of the brand’s shares are now owned by founding shareholders Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey as well as by Chief Executive Antonio Calce. Founded in 2004, Greubel Forsey specialises in complicated timepieces that resemble pieces of art, with a focus on innovation.  
Marriott enters the luxury safari lodge segment

Marriott International on Wednesday announced the signing of an agreement with Baraka Lodges Ltd. to open the group’s first luxury safari lodge in Africa. The JW Marriott Masai Mara Lodge will be located within the Mara National Reserve, overlooking the banks of the river Talek. Set to welcome guests in 2023, the new-build lodge will feature 20 private tents, a presidential canvas-topped pavilion and two interconnecting canopied suites.  
Glenmorangie introduces X whisky

Glenmorangie is launching a new single malt Scotch specially made for mixing. Crafted in consultation with top global bartenders, X by Glenmorangie offers a sweeter, richer taste with notes of pear, vanilla, honeysuckle, orange sherbet and chocolate fudge. The whisky is aged in bourbon casks, and finished in new char oak casks, then bottled at 40% ABV. It is available for ₹4971 in Mumbai. 
Mercedes unveils a special edition AMG G63

To celebrate 55 years of AMG, Mercedes launched a new Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 55. The G-Class has a signature boxy silhouette, with 22-inch AMG forged alloys in a cross-spoke design and grey finish. Painted in either obsidian black metallic or bright white, AMG comes with a performance steering wheel in DINAMICA microfibre with the “AMG” and “55” badges. The Edition 55 will cost around US$176,040.  
Singapore relaxes rules  
Currently, Singapore is permitting immunised people from 32 countries and provinces to enter without having to quarantine under a vaccinated travel lane program. However, from April 1 onwards, the city state will have no vaccinated travel lane requirements. All vaccinated travellers will have to undergo pre-departure test and meet visa requirements, but there will be no on-arrival test or quarantine. In addition to this, the health ministers of Malaysia and Singapore are also working to resume all travel between the two countries considering the pandemic situation, said Malaysian Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin on Twitter.  
Jimmy Choo launches jewellery line

The luxury giant known for its fabulous shoes and bags added jewellery to its roster. Embedded with crystals, pearls, monograms, and stars, Jimmy Choo introduced sleek enamel monogrammed bangles, dangling crystal earrings, anklets that pair well with the brand’s sky-high heels and pearl encrusted rings.  
PANGAIA enters superfood market

PANGAIA, a materials science company that creates innovative tech and bio-engineered materials recently announced the launch of its superfoods vertical. The initial offerings are plant-based Super Super Bars, which use unique ingredients, like sweet prickly pear and goji berries. Like its clothes, the bars also incorporate innovations like Incredo sugar, a fast-dissolving sugar that halves sugar use without compromising taste, and Meltec fibre, a sugar-free vegetable blend that recycles waste fibres from corn and legumes.  
L’Occitane acquires Grown Alchemist

The L’OCCITANE Group acquired majority stake in Australian cosmeceutical, clean skincare brand, Grown Alchemist. Founded in 2008 by Melbourne brothers, Jeremy and Keston Muijs, Grown Alchemist is known for its anti-ageing serums, and botanical skincare formulas. With this purchase, L’Occitane attempts to reach the health-conscious, influential Millennial and Gen Z customers, and broaden its international consumer profile and market reach. 
Bvlgari releases thinnest watch

Octo Finissimo Ultra, the eighth watch of the Octo series by Bvlgari broke a world record for its 1.80mm thickness. From the caseback to the top of the sapphire crystal its thickness is equivalent to that of two credit cards. Unveiled on March 21, the €400,000 watch is available in a limited edition run of only 10 pieces.

Marvel comic sells for $2.4 million

A copy of the first-ever Marvel comic book was sold for $2,427,777 in an online auction on ComicConnect. The Marvel Comic #1 earned a 9.2 CGC (Certified Guaranty Company) Universal Grade, it is a rare Golden Age copy in mint condition. What makes this comic book even more valuable is that it is a “Pay Copy.” This means that it was the original copy used by publisher Lloyd Jacquet to record payments to the artists that contributed to the book.

A rare 1940 BMW 328 Superleggera has been listed for sale on DriverSource for the price tag of US$795,000. A classic roadster model built in 1940 that put BMW on the map of luxury automobiles, it was designed by auto engineer Fritz Fielder and his former assistant Rudolf Schleicher. The 1,720lb car can go from 0-60mph in 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 93mph. At the time it was built, only six prototypes were designed with the Touring Superleggera bodywork.

LVMH announces award finalists 
The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers launched in 2013, is for designers under 40 and is open to people from all over the world. Just yesterday, eight finalists were announced, including Ashlyn from South Korea, ERL, Winnie and S.S. Daley from the U.S., Knwls from the United Kingdom, Róisín Pierce from Ireland, Ryunosukeokazaki from Japan, from the UK, Tokyo James from Nigeria. The winner of the LVMH prize will be the recipient of a €300,000 endowment, a chance for mentorship, while the awardee of the Karl Lagerfeld Prize receives a €150,000 and a one-year mentorship by LVMH teams.  
Gucci unveils NFT virtual store

For Gucci’s latest Vault project, which is the brand’s experimental online space envisioned by Creative Director, Alessandro Michele, Gucci has collaborated with digital craftsman Wagmi-san. Wagmi-san who started 10KTF, a metaverse accessories shop, has joined hands with Michele to form a 10KTF Gucci Grail collection with two customised looks inspired by the Gucci Aria and Love Parade collections.
