This year’s Academy Awards ceremony returned to its regular venue of the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood after being held at Union Station in 2021. The stars showed up in their glitzy gowns and sparkling jewels in full force. Sequinned ensembles seemed to be the order of the evening, with Zendaya, Vanessa Hudgens and Timothée Chalamet all dressed in twinkling outfits. Megan Thee Stallion stole the show in couture by India’s very own Gaurav Gupta, who made his Oscar debut with the look. Demi Singleton who played Serena Williams in the biopic based on Williams’ family’s life walked down the red carpet in a Miu Miu outfit. Her sheath gown was a lovely shade of lilac and encrusted with clusters of flowers on the bodice, travelling all the way down the length of the dress.

The Emilia Jones’ starrer CODA won the Academy Award for Best Film, and its actress shone in gold, almost like the Oscar statue. Wearing an ombre gold, copper and champagne dress encrusted with sequins, and a midriff baring cut-out by Dolce & Gabbana, the actress opted to keep her makeup simple with a glowing bronze look.

Hats off to Jessica Chastain who won the Award for Best Actress for her role in The Eyes of Tammy Faye at the ceremony this year. The winner shone bright in a champagne-and-lavender sequinned Gucci gown ending in a ruffled tulle hem, complete with gold Stuart Weitzman platforms.

Kristen Stewart made a non-traditional sartorial choice at the 94th Academy Awards. She wore a white shirt open till almost her navel, paired with a cropped tuxedo and matching hot shorts, all by Chanel. A long, bejewelled necklace made the outfit Oscar-worthy.

Pretty as a picture in a Versace pink gown, Lily James attended the Academy Awards ceremony as a presenter. The pink lace Atelier Versace dress she wore was from the fall/winter 2021 couture collection and featured a form-fitting silhouette accented with a thigh-high slit and ruffled tulle train.

Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o wore a Prada custom burnished yellow three-dimensional sequinned flared gown at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony. Embedded with dazzling amethyst and topaz crystals the gold gown was perfectly Oscar-appropriate.

Megan Thee Stallion walked down the red carpet in none other than Gaurav Gupta! Stallion is not the only American singer to don Gupta’s unique confections, even Cardi B recently wore the designer for one of her music videos. Stallion wore a silver-blue fantasy biomorphic gown by the Indian couture designer.

Mila Kunis and actor-husband Ashton Kutcher made a glamorous couple on the Oscar red carpet. The actress, who was presenting an award at the ceremony wore a shimmering pale pink satin gown by Zuhair Murad couture. The silky ensemble featured a train tied to her waist, that trailed behind her with a ruched bust and midriff details.  
Nicole Kidman

Nominated for Best Actress for her role in Being the Ricardos, Nicole Kidman looked ethereal at the Oscars red carpet. According to an E! News interview, the star had her own custom grey-blue colour created for her by Armani Privé for the occasion. The peplum dress was accompanied with a long train and baubles by Harry Winston and Omega. 
Olivia Colman

The Lost Daughter actress Olivia Colman was nominated for Best Actress and looked elegant in a Dior gown. The updo and the pleated silver dress with dramatic sleeves made Colman look much younger than her 48 years.

Another Dior gown hit the red carpet, draped on West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler. The actress wore a sheer beaded black dress with a cowl neck, braided details on the back, and accessorized it with jewels from Tiffany & Co. 
Timothée Chalamet

Known for his bold red-carpet choices, Timothée Chalamet upped the ante once again in Louis Vuitton womenswear. The actor donned an embroidered jacket, sans shirt, and high-waisted pants from the label’s Spring-Summer 2022 collection. He then accessorised this look with a sparkling pendant.

Host at the Oscars red carpet show, Vanessa Hudgens dialled up the heat in a sexy black number. Drench in sequins, with cut outs at the waist, the gown was from Michael Kors’ Spring/Summer 2022 collection.

Venus Williams has taken awards season by storm with dazzling look after look. Styled by celebrity stylist Law Roach, Williams stunned in couture Elie Saab. The otherwise simple low-cut white dress was jazzed up by a metallic strip around the neckline.

Dressed in a custom Valentino silk cropped button down and a shimmering sequinned skirt with a train, paired with Bvlgari jewels, the actress turned heads everywhere.
