Top 10 fashion looks of Indian and international stars at Cannes Film Festival, 2021

Film and fashion go hand in hand. It’s no surprise then that the most prestigious film festival gives us some of the memorable red carpet looks of the year. With Cannes’ Bollywood mainstays like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonam Kapoor missing, it was the year for India-born influencers. Held from 6 to 17 July 2021, the festival featured jaw-dropping looks from the likes of Bella Hadid, Masoom Minawala and Timothée Chalamet.

Amy Jackson added a touch of Bollywood flair to the 74th Cannes red carpet. The actress was all dolled up in a deep burgundy off-shoulder Atelier Zuhra gown, and jewellery by Chopard.  
Diipa Büller-Khosla 
Like Cinderella in her signature ice blue ball gown, Büller-Khosla walked the red carpet in a dress by Milla. The influencer’s first look at this year’s festival though was a gorgeous, intricate lehenga by Falguni Shane Peacock.

Farhana Bodi  
The India-born, Dubai-based influencer Farhana Bodi made an appearance in a canary yellow confection from Atelier Zuhra. The frothy tulle gown was custom-made for Bodi as she attended the screening of the film “Annette.”

Masoom Minawala Mehta
Resembling a shimmering angel, the influencer looked resplendent in a pearl white chiffon stitched saree by Manish Malhotra. Minawala topped off her look with jewellery from Boucheron, and a nude makeup look.

Nidhi Sunil  
Kerala-born model Nidhi Sunil was recently named L’Oreal’s newest global ambassador. She attended the film festival in an all-white ensemble by Maison Rabih Kayrouz. The lawyer-turned-model made waves on the opening gala night as well, once again in white, wearing a short Rahul Mishra dress.

International Stars

Bella Hadid  
An outfit that’s sure to go down in history as one of the most iconic Cannes red carpet looks was Bella Hadid’s Schiaparelli getup. The focus was the trompe l’œil lungs brass necklace, studded with Swarovski crystals. Hadid accentuated the look with a high bun and ruby earrings.

Candice Swanepoel 
Looking oh-so-glam in Etro, supermodel Candice Swanepoel donned a rose gold jumpsuit adorned with paisley and floral motifs. The entire outfit was embroidered with rhinestones, beads, metallic sequins and had 70s-style fringed sleeves.

Jessica Chastain 
The actress was decked out in an Autumn-Winter 2019-2020 collection strapless black net gown embellished with velvet scrolls. Accessorising the outfit with a red lipstick and a low ponytail, Chastain looked just as stunning as she did during her Cannes debut 10 years ago.

Timothée Chalamet 
The American actor attended the festival for the premiere of his latest film, Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch. Looking dapper, Chalamet donned a much-talked-about metallic suit by Tom Ford.

Tilda Swinton  
Chalamet’s French Dispatch co-star brought her signature androgynous style to the red carpet in this ́Haider Ackermann ensemble. Her understated outfit was made extra glam with a sequinned green top she wore under the pink and orange top and skirt combo.
