There is perhaps no Indian bridalwear designer who can come close to the success of the legendary Sabyasachi. It’s every bride’s dream to wear a Sabya creation for her big day. The designer, who became iconic with his signature Bengal Tiger logo remains extremely or perhaps even more relevant in 2023. To kick start the wedding season, one can’t go without a mention of his bridal collections. In August, the designer dropped a new collection.
The brand took to Instagram with a post that read, “Crowded bazars and swarming flea markets. Remnants of the erstwhile maharanis and maharajahs. Dense mangroves of the Sundarbans crawling with tropical flora and fauna. Dilapidated ageing palaces and grand old crumbling homes loom down the narrow lanes of Calcutta. The timelessness of absolute exuberance.” While red hues have a stronghold in the collections, the traditional colour is juxtaposed with fresher hues that are more soothing. Thus, doing what he does best, revamping classic old pieces in new shades.  From veiled sarees to velvets, floral prints and traditional brocade, Sabysachi’s bridal collections celebrate the unsung beauty of Indian heritage.

Known for her breathtaking chikankari and mukaish embellishments, Anjul Bhandari is a top choice for Indian couples. This season, the designer weaves a tale of soft-tinged neutrals blended with an understated dazzle of ivory & gold with her new festive collection titled Chand Mati. Exploring fresh shades and experimenting with silhouettes, Bhandari reimagines Bridal Couture for her collection ‘Chand Mati’.
Speaking on the new collection she said, “Chand Mati celebrates the effervescence of moonlight in the form of bridal couture which resonates beautifully with the sublime locales of Raffles Udaipur. As both brands pave the way for the coming together of luxury, the collaboration is an embodiment of grandeur merged with archival impressions and legacy heirlooms.” A soothing amalgamation of earthy tones, the collection embodies soft pastel hues. Garments are brought to life with chikankari – which is primarily woven in the tones of beige-gold – and embellished with zero-sized square sequins and half-cut Swarovski pearls that give an ethereal illusion of glistening dew drops all over the outfit.
You can find sets of lehengas paired with peshwas over it and asymmetrical jackets paired with heavy trousers giving the range a contemporary twist. The styles showcase a regal yet understated style celebrating the old-world charm and infusing it with modern sensibilities.

A relatively new player in the field, Seema Gujral has successfully carved her niche in the wedding fashion industry. With growing numbers, the newest line Zuri sheds the limelight on creations for both brides and grooms. Taking note of the modern brides; shift towards softer, more sublime and neutral palettes, ensembles are as embellished with crystals and pearls just as before but in more demure shades of ivories, champagnes, silvers, putters, and golds. Besides signature lehengas, this collection also features formal shararas.
If you wish you turn away from the glitz and glam, the floral three-dimensional embroidery proves to be a refreshing twoist. Teamed with sheer fabric, the embroidery complements the brilliance of the garment.
