Designer Vaishali Shandangule has often showcased her affection for the Indian weaves through her distinctive yet sublime collections. Working with authentic woven textiles, she has created some of the most inventive as well as artistic pieces.

After garnering much affection for her weaves at the Paris Fashion Week ’21, the designer has wowed us once again with her latest Bridal-Festive collection –‘Shakuntala’.

Tapping into ancient mythology, Shakuntala is an expression of the love between Mahabharata’s Shakuntala and King Dushyanta. For designer Vaishali S, it is the interplay of threads unravelling from a spool to a fabric that showcases this epic love saga.

An amalgamation of pure merino wool, silks and handwoven chanderis, Shakuntala combines the artistic beauty and textures from nature itself. These are then presented in vibrant handcrafted ensembles of Bengal silks and Benarasi brocades.

Vaishali S believes in the eagerness to be unconventional; the idea of expressing one’s uniqueness with something timeless which has been showcased wonderfully through Shakuntala.

Combining her signature handcrafted techniques, she seamlessly blends modern and traditional silhouettes to recreate the free-spiritedness of a modern bride.

Speaking about the new collection, Vaishali S, says, “I really wanted to celebrate the success and the outpouring of love I received for my show at Paris Haute Couture Week. My bridal collection for 2021 is a mix of those uniquely articulated couture pieces, seamlessly blended to help express oneself with a distinctly modern trousseau. The collection is a statement and celebration of love in the 21st Century, defined by the unique amalgamation of traditional beliefs and new age lifestyles.”
