Calling all art lovers to Mumbai as Van Gogh 360° is finally coming to the bustling city. After making its way across Europe, North America and the Middle East, the immersive art experience which will showcase more than 300 works of the painter is all set to debut in India.
One of the most significant figures in the history of Western art is the Dutch painter, Vincent van Gogh. Van Gogh’s originality was in the limitless emotional naivety he conveyed in his paintings as well as the fresh aesthetic interpretation of form, colour symbolism, and brushstroke expressiveness that was characteristic of some of his most well-known works, such as The Starry Night (1889). Van Gogh’s artwork can be found in numerous public and private collections around the world, including those in the Netherlands, France, America, Russia, and more. It is practically difficult to display them in a single exhibition, but by turning them into an immersive experience, individuals of all ages can access them in various places around the globe.
Art and technology collide
Immersive art exhibits are a great way for people to engage with art. Van Gogh 360° India is a multimedia, immersive creative event that will bring the vibrant colours of Vincent van Gogh’s most famous paintings to life in a one-of-a-kind display.
Van Gogh 360° India will provide an exciting voyage into the realm of the illustrious post-Impressionist painter using cutting-edge projection technology created by internationally recognised audio-visual designers.
Attendees will be submerged in breathtaking projections that span the entire room, animating the works of the painter and illuminating one’s mind. The multimedia display immerses visitors in a three-dimensional environment that thrills the senses as they wander through enormous projections that emphasise brushstroke, depth, and colour.
“Vincent van Gogh’s paintings are some of the most recognisable in the world and his art deserves to be seen and experienced by Indian audiences – especially our children and the younger generation,” says Nikhil Chinapa, India spokesperson Van Gogh 360° India, of the upcoming exhibit. “Taking art out of museums and making it accessible to audiences is imperative, and immersive exhibitions like this go a long way in introducing art in a fun and exciting way. I can’t wait to bring it to life in Mumbai!” he adds.
The exhibition will run for two weeks – from January 20 to February 3, 2023, at Mumbai’s World Trade Centre.
Tickets for the same will be available to the general public starting at 2 pm IST on bookmyshow.comfrom November 19.
