Ethereal white outfits spotted on the Oscars 2023 red carpet

The 95th Academy Awards took place on Sunday night and the Oscars 2023 red carpet was painted in hues of pristine white. This might be surprising, given that the dress code is usually red or gold.  While neon bright colours have ruled many recent award show red carpets, at the Academy Awards the stars instead decided to go for a fresh start in all-white looks, with celebrities opting for old Hollywood glamour in classic white evening wear. Deepika Padukone created a Grace Kelly moment on the carpet while Mindy Kaling put her own twist on the style in a Vera Wang column gown with cutout corset boning throughout the torso and detached sleeves.

Mindy Kaling 

Kaling opted for a simple yet stylish Vera Wang ensemble. She chose a white silk crepe off-the-shoulder sleeve column gown with exposed boning, sculptural cup details, delicate lingerie straps, and a split-away peplum. Championing the cut-out trend, she surely caught many eyeballs.

Eva Longoria

Nailing the sheer trend, Eva looked angelic in a white gown by Zuhair Murad. The ensemble is a work of art and featured intricate embellishments with clear crystals and white pearls. The plunging neckline and built-in choker strap doubled as a shimmering necklace and the look was simply heavenly!

Emily Blunt 

Emily Blunt went super simple in an off-the-shoulder body-conscious column gown by Valentino. The off-shoulder gown was from the Valentino Urban Riviera collection and she teamed it with dainty diamond and ruby dangling earrings. A sleek low-bun completed the Oscars 2023 red carpet look to perfection.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry looked like a work of art in a gown by Tamara Ralph with sparkling rosettes on the 2023 Oscars red carpet. She looked glamorous in the white halter gown featuring a high-neck collar, a peekaboo cutout at the torso, an asymmetrical wrapped waistline, and a trailing skirt with a hip-high slit. The dress was also embellished with glittering rose gold rosettes arranged around her shoulders and clustered at her hip.

Michelle-Yeoh

Yoeh’s Dior ensemble was a vision. The flowing tulle dress with a sheer illusion sweetheart neckline was embellished with subtle white feathers, making the look dreamy, to say the least. Moussaieff diamonds and a Richard Mille watch completed the ensemble elegantly.

Ariana-Debose

Ariana DeBose opted for a modern take on Art Deco in elaborately beaded gowns with long sleeves and plunging necklines by Atelier Versace. The custom-made ensemble featured all-over silver embellishments. She paired the dazzling number with silver-heeled sandals, diamond jewels, and an Omega timepiece.

Sofia Carson 

Looking straight out of a fairytale, Sofia Carson paired a pristine white Giambattista Valli gown with an elegant diamond and emerald necklace on the Oscars 2023 red carpet. Channelling princess glamour the look featured a dramatic full skirt. Completing her royal aesthetic was an eye-catching emerald and diamond necklace from Chopard. Carson wore her hair in an elegant updo to show off the choker.

Tems

Bold and beautiful in white, Tems amped up the drama at the Oscars 2023 red carpet in Lever Couture. She opted for an avant-garde version of the hooded gown that swirled around her like a trail of smoke. Featuring a thigh-high slit, she kept accessories to a minimum to ensure the gown steals the show.

Michelle Williams 

Michelle Williams went the angelic route in a Chanel couture gown with a cape. The delicate cape was embellished with sequins and a diamond choker completed the look.

Paul Mescal

Mescal was dressed in Gucci and wore a custom ivory double-breasted tuxedo jacket white evening shirt, black bowtie, and black patent leather lace-ups. A refreshing turn from the traditional black tie affair on the red carpet. 

Harry Shum Jr.

The Crazy Rich Asian star Harry Shum Jr. star described his Adeam look, which included a sash reminiscent of a traditional Japanese obi. The look was an ode to East meets West.
