Nothing can be as elegant as a minimalistic, understated home with a deeply personal touch. Architects Rakhee Bedi and Shobhit Kumar of RSDA Studio designed their latest project, a residence for a modern nuclear family.
Located in the heart of Gurugram, the house is rendered with numerous memories and experiences of the client, each telling a unique story. The house features a warm backdrop with a white and grey palette, which creates cosy and comforting corners while the rich jewel tones of the furniture enhance the luxe of the interiors. An exquisite art collection depicting the client’s, a travel businessman’s milestones, features throughout the house.

A narrow entrance creates an enthusiastic start, which leads to a living room with an attached balcony. To bring elements of nature indoors, the balcony is decorated with vibrant planters and fascinating flooring patterns. Subsequently, the design leads to dining space, crafting a lobby that leads to a private lounge room with a television concealing its bedlam from the living room and three bedrooms.

The doors and moulding panels are sculpted in classical curves and white colour as they provide a neutral backdrop for the vibrant jewel tones derived from the rich culture
of Rajasthan.

The living room features luxe, deep-toned bright fuchsia and emerald green sofas. It is complemented with the antiquity of Indian décor, which includes marble-tinted wallpaper, that gleams with gold patterns and beaten brass accents that parade the coffee table.

The dining room celebrates the beauty of marble, whereas the mirror ornamentation on the wall adds a touch of royalty as each mirror resembles the window of a
palace facade.

Furniture in the bedrooms, like the mirror unit in the daughter’s room, is straight out of movie design, customised to highlight the informality of the space.

The carefully curated artwork further accentuates the charm of the house. The ‘Red Turban Man’ in the guest lounge, painted by a client’s mother, while Pichwai in the dining room is a handcrafted marvel of an artist in Jaipur. The art and architecture complement each other making the residence a warm blend of a welcoming home and a haven for art lovers.
