Nothing beats the power of the F1 when it comes to luxury car races. And more often than not, those who are die-hard car enthusiasts find themselves glued to the screen during this period. The modern era of Formula One Grand Prix racing began in 1950, but the roots of F1 are far earlier, tracing to the pioneering road races in France in the 1890s. To honour the prestigious F1 history McLaren has introduced a new hybrid supercar, the W1, with a hefty price tag of US$2.1 million. Launched on the 50th anniversary of our first Formula 1 World Championship win, W1 embodies our world championship mindset. The new hybrid is the most powerful McLaren to date. But if you want one, you are already too late!
This one, promises over 1200 horsepower and oodles of Formula One tech! We are talking about the latest addition to McLaren’s Ultimate Series the W1. It is a hypercar following in the footsteps of two McLaren legends — the electrified P1 and the original hypercar, the F1.
Under the hood, the car comes with a hybrid powertrain featuring a new MHP-8 V8 engine, which is the most advanced aerodynamic platform of any McLaren road car. It features extensive use of advanced lightweight materials, a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that produces 916 hp, with an output of 1,258 hp and 988 lb.-ft of torque. The result? The car can go from 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds, with its top speed of 186 mph coming in just 12.7 seconds. Now isn’t that fast and furious? Weighing 3,084 pounds, the W1 is the fastest road-legal McLaren ever. The W1 joins the Bentley Continental GT and Lamborghini Revuelto which use electricity to achieve whopping power.

In terms of design, the car giant stays true to its roots. The exterior is fierce and sporty with a sharp aerodynamic cut to ensure acceleration. The price is a whopping $2.1 million, and only 399 models will be produced.
The interior of the McLaren W1 is meticulously designed to provide unparalleled visibility, driver focus, and comfort. This is achieved through a beautifully crafted wraparound design. Furthermore, the W1 is the first car in the world to feature McLaren InnoKnit, a revolutionary, super-light material that is infinitely flexible and seamlessly integrated into the interior. This innovative material allows for the integration of interior lighting and sound components under a single surface, resulting in reduced weight without compromising performance.

In addition, Richard Mille has also unveiled a 500-piece limited RM 65-01 McLaren Automatic Split-Seconds Chronograph W1. The brief for the RM 65-01 McLaren W1 required the watch to reflect both the character and the features of the car in terms of its shape, materials and functionality as well as the ‘engine’ that powers it. This is the fourth timepiece born from its collaboration with a British supercar maker since 2016. Inspired by McLaren’s newest, most powerful, fastest and most radical road car to date – the W1 – this timepiece echoes many of the car’s design principles as well as its remit to be truly usable in the real world.
