The Olympic Games 2024 have taken on Paris in true style. From the incredible country uniforms to the grand opening ceremony in Paris along the Seine River, it truly doesn’t get better. In light of the ongoing games, the country anticipated an influx of tourists, to ease the commute between London and Paris, Eurostar has partnered with Team GB and ParalympicsGB for the Paris 2024 Olympics to launch Eurostar Golden. So what makes the Eurostar Golden Train so iconic? The supremely sparkly golden-painted train high-speed rail operator will transport two million athletes and fans to the Games this summer.
Commenting on the collaboration, François Le Doze, Chief Commercial Officer of Eurostar said, “We’re preparing for more than one million passengers to travel with us to the French capital during these exciting and unforgettable events. We are very proud to be the official travel partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB for the Paris 2024 Games.” During the Games, 160 Eurostar trains will transport 2,000 athletes and staff from Team GB, ParalympicsGB, Team Belgium, Team Para Belgium, Team Netherlands, Team ParaNL and Team Deutschland in a sustainable way.
Eurostar Golden also boosting its timetable this summer and offering up to eight more daily services between London and Paris, at peak times on July 25 to 27 and August 10-12, periods that overlap with the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics. But the really adding to the real Olympic and Paralympic fever, are the Olympic-themed desserts onboard the train, a new Olympic gold cocktail menu, and Olympic chocolates served onboard Business Premier, Standard Premier, and Premium. There is one cocktail for each country, such as the Martinez for France, a sweet twist on a traditional dry martini. Additionally, 21,000 glasses of champagne are predicted to be served during the Games, as fans and athletes toast the medal sweep. For those looking to celebrate even further once they step off the train, a dedicated fan zone will launch in Coal Drops Yard, allowing for extended festivities.
The buck doesn’t stop there, Eurostar’s commitment to sustainability means that athletes travelling to Paris will reduce their carbon footprint significantly whilst travelling to the continent and back. According to a study by EcoRes (performed in 2023), the 2,000 athletes, Olympians, Paralympians, and their staff travelling to Paris with Eurostar will be cutting their CO2 emissions by up to 96% compared to air or coach travel.
