The Cannes Film Festival 2023 kickstarted on May 16 with a grand opening and premiere of Jeanne du Barry. Taking place on the French Riviera, it is renowned for its celebration of outstanding cinema and highly anticipated celebrity fashion looks. It is no surprise that Cannes always attracts some of the biggest stars from across the entertainment industry from Hollywood and Bollywood.
While we look forward to the grand fashion looks on the red carpet and extravagant couture, there are many other noteworthy moments that don’t get a spot in the limelight. From a grand opening ceremony to Falguni and Shane Peacock’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, here are some of the key highlights.
Falguni and Shane Peacock made their Cannes debut

Luxury Indian designers Falguni and Shane Peacock made their Cannes debut in association with Grey Goose. Speaking about their collection Falguni Shane Peacock said, “Our bespoke creations were envisioned for the muses walking the red carpet, encapsulating the essence of voyages. These designs embody sophistication, elegance, and allure. Collaborating with Grey Goose has brought our vision to life and marked the beginning of our journey to Cannes.” The duo dressed actors Mrunal Thakur (who is a debutant) and Diana Penty for the festival’s red carpet.
Festival trophies by Chopard, the Palme d’Or

Official partner to the Cannes Festival since 1998, Chopard has crafted all the trophies awarded by the Festival jury. Namely, Palme d’Or is crafted in fairmined-certified ethical gold.
BTS member V (Kim Taehyung) will attend Cannes Film Festival 2023

Making news for the Asian community, BTS member V, Kim Taehyung, is attending the Cannes Film Festival 2023. The BTS singer will walk the prestigious red carpet for the French luxury ready-to-wear label Celine. Taehyung took to Instagram to share the news with his millions of fans.
Sara Ali Khan and Manushi Chillar make their debut

Also on the red carpet were two Bollywood debutants Manushi Chillar and Sara Ali Khan. While Chillar opted for a FOVARI pristine white ruffle gown, Sara Ali Khan picked veteran designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s creations. The designers also dressed many others including Masoom Minawala and Dolly Jain on the red carpet.
As befits the glamorous scenery of the French Riviera, decadent earrings and necklaces have been the order of the day, with eye-catching jewellery pieces. However, an interesting trend that caught our attention was men donning jewellery on the runway. Indian model Rahi Chadda in was spotted in a Fred Jewellery necklace; Manu Rios opted for a delicate Cartier necklace and Alton Mason wore Messika ear cuffs. That’s quite interesting, isn’t it?
Sofia Carson’s custom-made Damiani Sophia Loren necklace

Carson certainly had a jewellery red carpet moment to cherish. Named after legendary actress Sophia Loren, Carson took to the red carpet wearing a necklace the actress not only wore but created with the Italian jewellery brand Damiani. Aptly named the Damiani Sophia Loren necklace, the stunning statement piece is made of 18-karat white gold and 81.02 carats of diamonds and is worth roughly US $714,580. Could this be the most expensive piece of jewellery at the Cannes Film Festival 2023?
