How grand is too grand? When it comes to luxe living and the big bucks, this news will surely blow your mind. Jay Z and Beyonce’s new $200m Malibu beach estate has created a new record. Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z are known for breaking records, and now, they’ve broken the record for purchasing the most expensive home in California’s history.
The home also set a record for being the most expensive home sold in California, and the second most expensive in the history of US real estate, as a New York City apartment previously sold for $238 million.
Designed by Japanese master architect Tadao Ando, the futuristic mega-mansion was formerly owned by top art collectors Bill and Maria Bell which they bought for $14.5 million in 2003. Reportedly, it took more than a decade and a half to finish, and the construction of the modern home was completed in 2014. Initially, the Bell’s home served as a museum with a vast array of legendary artworks, which includes pieces by Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst, and Andy Warhol, to name a few.
Jay Z and Beyonce’s new $200m Malibu beach estate is spread across 30,000 square feet, but obviously, isn’t your average beach house. The luxurious home overlooks the ocean, and the Pacific Cove estate features huge grey-toned hallways and sweeping, a private beach, two swimming pools including an infinity pool that seems to stretch off into the ocean, and Zen water features. According to reports, more than 22,500 square feet of the space was used for the estate’s driveaway and motor courts alone. The Brutalist-style home is built with lots of concrete, and floor-to-ceiling glass walls and surrounding the contemporary structure are sprawling well-maintained lush green lawns and a patio. Although it’s a home perched on top of a hill, the house is nothing like a hill home. Made with art deco inspiration, and large bay windows which illuminate the interiors along with vast empty spaces, Jay Z and Beyoncé’s new $200m Malibu estate embodies luxe living at its best.
According to reports, the luxury property was also shared the music industry’s power couple by broker Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency, whose other clients include Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Madonna.
While we don’t have the inside scoop on the number of bedrooms, these visuals of the home are enough to give you an estimate of what lies inside Jay Z and Beyonce’s new $200m Malibu beach estate. In addition to the new place, the couple owns two other homes in Lower Manhattan, – TriBeCa where they got married – and an $88 million mansion in Bel Air, Los Angeles.
