Everyone deserves a second chance in life, no matter how bad the situation is. And Burnt is one such example. A young chef, Adam Jones is a culinary perfectionist, and the kitchen is his workshop. He often claims that it isn’t about people wanting to come and eat, it is about them having an experience. And while thoroughly talented, Jones manages to ruin his life with drugs, a party-hard attitude and loses his credibility as a chef due to his aggressive behaviour in the kitchen. Nonetheless Jones decides to make a clean comeback, and earn, not one, but three Michelin stars. On viewing the plot, one can instantly make a connection between the character of Jones and the infamous celebrity chef Gordon Ramsey, although there was never any confirmation on the same.

You aren’t always where you’re meant to be, and that is what the movie Chef is all about.  Head chef at a popular restaurant, Carl Casper gets fired after having a cross with a popular food critic, and becoming viral on twitter for having a meltdown in his kitchen. Deciding to live on his own terms by his own rules, Carl and his colleague Martin along with his son Percy start a food truck that is an instant hit! Although not based on a real movie, Chef is the story of every passionate restaurateur who’s in the business for all the right reasons. A culinary master or not, this movie is a must watch for anyone and everyone who loves food.

Another Meryl Streep masterpiece, Julie & Julia is a culinary wonder. It follows the real life story of Julie Powell and Julia Child, two women separated by time, but united by their passion to create something iconic. Julia Child, a celebrity chef from the 50’s aims to bring the finesse of French food into American households. Her bestseller ‘Mastering the Art of French Cooking’ is a book containing over 500 of her best French recipes, seemingly complex, but broken down for the common man and woman. The movie goes back-and-forth between the past and present, where Julie Powell, an American food blogger with a mediocre call centre job decides to recreate and record each and every recipe in Child’s famous cookbook. Despite being separated by time, Julia unknowingly rescues Julie from her stale existence giving her something to look forward to and be proud of, showing the audience that it’s okay to fail and try again so long as you as passionate!
