Neelam Kothari Soni made a name for herself as an actor and jewellery designer and now has stretched her artistic skills to the field of interior design. The actress/designer joined forces with one of India’s most well-established interior design and architecture firms, BNK Group to make her grand debut. The BNK Group associated with Neelam Kothari who lent her expertise, experience and unparalleled eye for beauty to design a high-rise residence in South Mumbai into a masterpiece.

Completed during the pandemic, the grand South Mumbai designer residence is the latest in BNK Group’s portfolio, which exudes a great level of panache and refined elegance.

Named 49 Avigna, the luxury apartment sits in a high rise building in the commercial district of Lower Parel. The home, spread across 3,800 sq. ft. is a marriage between opulence and contemporary. A sweeping deck and balcony area add another 1,200 sq. Ft to the apartment.

Designed for a family of 3 generations, each room in the apartment reflects the personality of the occupants.

While the living and dining areas are the highlight of this home, the dining area is engulfed with a customised metal screen giving a sense of space and privacy. Bright colours are splashed around in subtle ways to create a sense of vibrancy in a muted colour palette.

While each room is different, certain common materials like the floor and wall textures flow into each space to create a sense of connection and oneness.

Inspired by influences that are firmly rooted in both Indian culture and Universal Art Deco styles, this residence showcases both heritage and contemporary craftsmanship at its finest.

From woodwork by local artisans to modern brass furniture and mirror installations which play with natural light to amplify both the interiors and the stunning vistas of the Mumbai Skyline.

While art and colour play a huge role in enlivening the apartment, Neelam Kothari added hints of her jewellery design sensibilities giving the apartment certain panache.

Speaking about the collaboration, Neelam Kothari says, “This collaboration is a seamless blend of my design aesthetics, coupled with the contemporary architecture of BNK Group. Creating this luxury residence into a home, as a team has been hard work and a gratifying experience.”
