After the success of season 1, Made in Heaven season 2 was bound to make news. The series draws a picture of Delhi’s high society portrayed through extravagant weddings, dramatic spectacles, and scandalous affairs.
The new Made in Heaven season promises inclusivity, a celebration of Indian designers and shines light on the sartorial choices in the present day. A captivating watch, the show pulls you in with extravagant sets, drama and a story line that follows the nuances of the strong independent youth of the nation.
Amid the brilliant plot, it was the extravagant lineup of wedding looks that really caught our eye. From classic Kanjivaram sarees to contemporary embellished looks, traditional attires to modern, dramatic silhouettes, the new season of Made in Heaven truly set new trends for to-be brides in the country.
However, this wasn’t the first show to do so. Over the years, many movies and shows, both Indian and international have delivered groundbreaking looks that set new trends for brides across the globe.

Alia Bhatt has given us some pretty ravishing bridal looks over the years. But her Tamilian bridal ensemble in 2 States easily trumps them all. Bhatt was dressed in a beautiful red and gold brocade saree by Manish Malhotra, which was paired with an orange silk blouse with antique gold zardozi work and brocade sleeves. Like a true South Indian bride, Bhatt donned a heavy selection of bridal jewellery including a double stacked gold necklace, gold jhumkas, a polki maang tikka and stacked red and gold bangles.

If you want the classic boho bride that is still chic and adorable, then Amanda’s Seyfried’s tulle wedding gown in Mamma Mia is all the inspiration you need. For her Greek island wedding, Seyfried’s Sophie Sheridan donned a floor length, off-white Greco-Roman gown designed by Ann Roth. Free-flowing with layers of tulle and a sequined bustier, the gown matched the sunny and carefree aesthetic that Mamma Mia is known for.

Anne Hathaway’s Mia Thermopolis will be one of her most iconic characters ever. For the second installment of the series, Hathway gave us a royal bridal look that was equal parts elegant and chic. The long, free-flowing satin silhouette had an embellished off-shoulder top that was just the right amount of bling for a princess bride. A veil matching the top of the dress combined with a classic tiara and minimal accessories completed the look.

In true Karan Johar style, Anushka Sharma’s wedding in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was a grand affair, and her bridal look equally extravagant. Sharma wore a gorgeous champagne-hued kurta with a red lehenga skirt and a floor length dupatta in gradient red, salmon and peach tones. Designed by Manish Malhotra, the entire outfit was heavily embodied with sequins and zardozi work. She paired the look with traditional kundan jewellery that echoed refrences of a Nawabi bride.
Constance Wu – Crazy Rich Asians

As the title suggests, Crazy Rich Asians is all about extravagance, and Constance Wu’s bridal look is the epitome of extravagance. What seems to be a regular gown turns out to be a combination of a gown and cat suit. The outfit, designed Mary Vogt, has a modern layered silhouette, with a bedazzled bustier that scatters towards the middle of the outfit. Interestingly, there are as many as thousands of Swarovski crystals on the outfit. Vogt shared that it took about 30 people and 3 weeks just to embellish the dress.

Ditching red ensembles for your D-Day is the new wedding trend. If boho-chic is your ideal wedding look, then Kareena Kapoor’s yellow lehenga in Veere Di Wedding is all the inspiration you need. The actress wore a stunning off-shoulder lehenga by Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. The tassled breads and pearl embellishments complemented the vibrant yellow hue as did the baby’s breath tiara and traditional polki jewellery.
Kate Hudson – Bride Wars

A movie that is all about dreamy weddings, Bride Wars gave us two of the most compelling bridal looks ever. But Kate Hudson’s Vera Wang ensemble easily outshined Anne Hathaway’s wedding ensemble. Hudson wore floor-length, sweetheart tulle ball gown with a lace bustier and a lavender sash. Her light lavender makeup, tulle veil and diamonds studs kept the outfit minimal yet sophisticated.
Katrina Kaif – Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara
Katrina Kaif is one actress that has given us the maximum number of wedding looks throughout her career, from a traditional Indian bride to to a Christian bride. And while many of them are memorable, it was her ensemble in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara that we love the most. A simple, blushing bride, Kaif wore a simple, strappy white gown with a slit. A floral tiara, nude makeup and elegant studs completed the look. If you’re looking for a minimalistic white wedding look, then this is the one to go for!

Who can forget Kristen Stewart’s wedding gown in Breaking Dawn Part 1. Setting the trend for long sleeved wedding gowns, Stewart wore an enchanting Carolina Herrera gown. Fashioned from satin, the gown had a delicately detailed French Chantilly lace back design that balanced the minimal appearance of the gown. A long veil and a sparkling diamond and sapphire haircomb completed the look.
