Prada brand CEO Gianfranco D’Attis to exit at month-end
Gianfranco D’Attis, who has helmed the Prada brand since January 2023, will leave his role on June 30, 2025, by mutual agreement, the company confirmed. His departure follows a period of flat sales growth in the first quarter of 2025, prompting a strategic leadership reshuffle amid evolving market dynamics.
Navigating a brand plateau
Under D’Attis’s leadership, Prada Group achieved record 2024 revenue of €5.4 billion, largely fuelled by a 93% surge in Miu Miu sales. However, Prada’s flagship brand saw only modest growth of 4% in 2024 and flat Q1 sales in 2025; factors that influenced the decision to allow an executive transition.
What’s next for Prada’s leadership?
In a move that signals strategic consolidation over quick succession, Prada has opted not to name a new brand CEO right away. Instead, Andrea Guerra, CEO of Prada Group will step into the role on an interim basis beginning July 1. Having assumed group leadership in 2023, Guerra brings a rich résumé with leadership stints at Luxottica, Eataly, and LVMH, known for blending operational rigor with brand-building finesse.
By keeping the position in-house for now, Prada appears focused on maintaining tight strategic alignment. The timing is crucial; with a high-profile acquisition underway and the flagship brand requiring renewed momentum, Guerra’s dual role reflects the group’s intent to prioritise consistency, clarity, and performance during this pivotal transition.
Analysts and insiders describe this as a strategic move intended to sharpen Prada’s competitive edge and accelerate its turnaround in brand performance. As the house prepares for the anticipated Versace acquisition and navigates a shifting luxury market, D’Attis’s exit marks the start of a new phase- one that will shape Prada’s trajectory into the next generation.
