Reliance Brands Limited has been collectively working over the years to bring popular international brands such as Emporio Armani, Bottega Venetta, Kate Spade and others to Indian markets. Their latest venture is a rather exciting collaboration with Spanish luxury house Balenciaga.

A prominent name in the industry, Balenciaga was founded in 1917 by Spanish-born Cristobal Balenciaga and later established in Paris in 1937. As a brand, Balenciaga defined modern couture with its many innovations, setting high standards with its form and technique. The brand currently thrives under the leadership of artistic director Demna Gvasalia who continues to uphold the vision of Balenciaga breaking boundaries and expanding the brand’s range with ready-to-wear collections for women and men, accessories, objets d’art and more. Balenciaga’s unprecedented interactions with the expanding digital realm, material developments, and today’s social responsibilities keep it at the forefront of modernity.
Bringing in this creative spirit, Reliance Brands Limited signed a strategic deal with the luxury fashion house to bring the best of their global couture to the Indian market. As per the long-term franchise agreement, RBL will be the sole representation of Balenciaga in India, making it the second partnership with the parent group Kering, which houses Balenciaga.
Speaking about the agreement, Reliance Brands Limited’s MD, Darshan Mehta added, “Few brands have actually embraced the opportunity for creative reinterpretation and reinvention quite like Balenciaga. Their avant-garde and ingenious creations, bold use of the logo, and a consequent cult in the fashion industry has already created a strong footing throughout the world. It’s the most opportune time to introduce the brand to the country as the Indian luxury customer has matured and uses fashion as a form of creative expression of their individuality”.
