Dior is taking its lavish Cheval Blanc spa in Paris to sea, set by the beautiful River Seine.
Dior decided to kickstart Haute Couture Fashion Week in style with its very own luxury wellness cruise. Setting sail on June 29, the two-hour cruise will offer guests a menu of luxury treatments from facials to massages.
The wellness cruise which is taking place on a Dior-branded boat will be outfitted entirely in Dior’s own homeware collection. The boat includes 4 treatment rooms, three single and one double, permitting only 4 guests at a time, so as to provide a truly peaceful experience.
The best part about the cruise is the stunning view. The cruise will be moored at Port Debilly and facing the Eiffel tower. The upper deck boasts of a truly relaxing ambience with rattan furniture and parasols in blue toile de jouy, an iconic house pattern reinterpreted by Maria Grazia Chiuri.
The two lower levels house a lounge and the treatment cabins. Blending signature designs that define Dior and Cheval Blanc Paris, the décor replicates a true luxury boat with cane work patterns and a toile de jouy revisited in a soft beige tone.
For a more private setting, guests can choose to sit in the private sitting room on the lower deck. It features a vast gazebo that is protected with a delicate veil while a trompe-l’oeil view of Paris is revealed on the wall. This view is inspired by the Virtual Fresco by artist Oyoram, installed by the swimming pool at the Dior Spa Cheval Blanc Paris.
Indulgent spa menu
The treatment menu is exclusively designed for guests to relax and indulge. Guests can choose between two facial treatments and two body treatments. The facials include the Dior Prestige Cruise, inspired by the regenerative powers of the Granville Rose, and the L’or De Vie Cruise brimming with precious Yquem Sap.
The body treatments on the programme focus on relaxing and energising guests, treating their body and mind with two wonderful, holistic and beneficial treatments. Rooted in the avant-garde approach of the house and of Cheval Blanc Paris, these expert protocols consider each guest in every dimension: physical, emotional and psychological. Lasting 60 minutes each, these treatments combine the quintessence of Dior science with the skilful hands of the beauty ambassadors, offering the promise of immediate benefits and lasting wellbeing.
At the end of their treatment, passengers are invited to step into the indoor lounge, or to head up to the terrace on the upper deck to continue their cruise with a cocktail while enjoying the beautiful monuments of Paris, until they return to Port Debilly.
Les Bains de la Samaritaine
According to a press release, Dior’s cruise ship spa pays homage to Les Bains de la Samaritaine, a floating bathhouse which was among the most luxurious baths of 19th-century Paris. The bathhouse was located near Pont-Neuf on the Seine in front of a Parisian department store named La Samaritaine, which inspired the name. The bathhouse was said to be way ahead of its time and equipped with hundreds of cabins catering to various treatments including steam baths, hydrotherapy and other cosmetic and medicinal treatments.
While the exact building date of the bathhouse is unknown, we do know that the baths were eventually destroyed in 1910 due to the unfortunate floods in Paris.
The exclusive cruise will run from June 29 to July 13, 2022, and will travel 5 times per day. Those who wish to enjoy a completely private retreat can make reservations for half-day or full-day events.
