Sonam Kapoor on Festive Glam: Sarees, Self-Care & Signature Shine
Every year, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja’s festive looks become the mood board for the season. Whether it’s her statement-making saris or her luminous hair, the actor knows how to turn tradition into a style statement.
This year, however, she’s swapping festival soirees for quality family time.
“Right now, my life revolves around my son’s school holidays,” she laughs. After the festive Puja, the family is headed to Vienna — a quieter celebration, but no less meaningful.
If she were to throw one of her famously epic parties however, the guest list would be predictably intimate. “My sister, my cousins, my closest friends always come first,” she says. The theme? A full-throttle dance floor. “It always ends up being a sangeet vibe — dress Indian, play bassy Bollywood, and dance the whole night.”
For Sonam, nothing signals the start of the festive season more than self-care rituals that balance inner and outer glow: taking care of her skin, her hair, and feeling her best. Naturally, haircare is front and centre (just like her centre sleek partition we all are inspired by).
A longtime Kérastase muse, she reveals her go-to: the Elixir Ultime, which she describes as “as small as a lipstick, and perfect to slip into any clutch or potli.” She also swears by the Genesis mask, which she prefers using as a conditioner.
Nourishing the ends, not over-oiling, and letting hair breathe are among her non-negotiables. “You have to nourish your body if you want your hair to flourish,” she adds. From her grandmother came the timeless lesson: love your hair, but don’t overindulge it.
Fashion, of course, is Kapoor’s other love language. When it comes to festive dressing, she balances heritage with experimentation. “I’ve worn corsets with saris, but sometimes the most striking look is the most traditional one,” she reflects.
While she treasures her go-to couturiers — Anamika Khanna, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Tarun Tahiliani — she is equally enthusiastic about spotlighting young designers redefining Indian fashion today.

Her festive moodboard is painted in vibrant hues: hot pinks, reds, golds, and sparkling accents. Hair accessories and maang tikkas often crown her looks, echoing her signature playful elegance. And for LuxeBook readers curating their wardrobes this season, her advice is disarmingly simple: “Nothing is sexier than a sari.”
