When you enter RL Residence in Mumbai, the first thing that catches your eye is a large, black spiral staircase that is intentionally made to be the focal point in the double heighted living room. The marble distressed walls, marble flooring and beige palette sets the stage for that one dramatic element – the black stained oak veneer staircase.
Designed by KdnD Studio LLP, the home evokes a timeless, elegant design.
Done up in neutral shades of beige with a hint of black and gold, the beauty lies in the details and the textures used to add character to the home.
The dining room is screened by a display unit. The chairs break the monotony of colour scheme while complementing the hues at the same time.
The kitchen is spacious with plenty of lighting. It is camouflaged by fluted panelling.
There are two rooms on the lower level. The guest rooms have been designed in rich textures.
The landing at upper level is converted into space, where the family can spend some quality time together. It overlooks the living room below. It is also a gateway to the rooms on the upper floor.
The master bedroom is designed like a hotel suite. It also has a walk-in closet.
The two other family rooms also play with panelling. In one, the interplay of brass and veneer in triangular shape adds drama to room. Hints of gold, through the artwork and lighting, infuse a regal touch.
In the other room, the leather panelling on wall serves as an accent and lends a soft elegance to the space.
Art features in all spaces of the house, including the bathrooms.
