A beloved childhood fable, Pinocchio has been re-made into several heart-touching movies. The latest interpretation is by Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro who imagines the classic tale as a stop motion animated musical fantasy. Unlike the previous versions, this film takes a darker spin on the Italian novel. Like the classic, the character of Pinnochio is made entirely out of wood, carved from a tree that grows over the grave of Gepetto, the toymaker’s son. Longing for a second chance at being a father, Gepetto’s wish magically comes true when the wooden boy turns to life. The film features star-studded names such as Gregory Mann, Ewan McGregor, Tilda Swinton and Finn Wolfhard.
