Ananta Spa & Resort Ajabgarh is a quick escape from Delhi
One of the undeniable joys of being a travel writer is uncovering hidden gems scattered across the globe. Over the years, my journeys have led me deep into the heart of Rajasthan, allowing me to see beyond its famed forts and palaces. Yet, Ajabgarh had somehow remained a mystery until I got a chance to explore the recently unveiled Ananta Spa and Resorts Ajabgarh.
Nestled in the foothills of the ancient Aravallis, this quiet Rajasthani hamlet is steeped in legend and intrigue, much like its eerie neighbor, Bhangarh that’s infamously dubbed India’s most haunted town. As per the local guide, the two places share a history of devastation; both were wiped out overnight. Amidst it all, Ananta Spa & Resort, Ajabgarh stands as an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Alwar’s storied past, a sanctuary where luxury whispers rather than shouts.
Spread across a sprawling 100 acres, the resort embodies quiet opulence, seamlessly blending into its tranquil surroundings. Ananta offers four distinct villa experiences—Earth, Lagoon, Bamboo, and Fire; each drawing inspiration from the elements. My stay in the Bamboo Villa was nothing short of enchanting. With soaring ceilings, a cozy loft perfect for lounging, and breathtaking views of the Aravalli hills framed through wooden shafts, the space felt like a retreat within a retreat. Waking up to soft, dappled sunlight filtering through the villa only added to its charm.
For those seeking a deeper connection with nature, the Earth Villas pay homage to the traditional Bhonga houses, crafted from mud, bamboo, and straw. Rustic yet intimate, they feature two spacious rooms and a private plunge pool, ideal for a family getaway. The Lagoon Villas, perched gracefully above koi-filled ponds make for an gram-worthy escape. Meanwhile, the Fire Villas, inspired by their namesake element, boast expansive spaces infused with warm, fiery accents, adding a touch of drama to their aesthetic.
