Battista Anniversario, world’s first luxury, pure-electric hyper GT car by Automobili Pininfarina is one of the most powerful sports cars ever.
Automobili Pininfarina, one of the most sustainable automobile brands based in Europe is a 100 per cent Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd investment. It has been named Automobili Pininfarina, following the signing of a trademark license agreement between Pininfarina SpA and the Indian multinational company. Pininfarina is a car design firm and coachbuilder, founded by Battista “Pinin” Farina in 1930 and is headquartered in Cambiano, Italy.
Battista Anniversario, celebrating 90 years of the car design firm is an exclusive car and will be made available only to five consumers for €2.6 million each, as only those many cars will be made. “My grandfather always had the vision that one day there would be a stand-alone range of Pininfarina-branded cars. The Battista Anniversario, named in his honour, is a glorious way to link our past with the future of motoring,” says Paolo Pininfarina, Chairman, Pininfarina SpA.
Each of the five Anniversario cars is finished in a combination of three signature colours viz Bianco Sestriere, the never-seen-before Grigio Antonelliano and Automobili Pininfarina’s signature Iconica Blu. The body is disassembled and reassembled three times so pinstripes in the three separate colours can be hand-painted directly onto the body. “Battista Anniversario features one of the most complex paint finishes in the world. The process of creating such a finish is akin to a great artist completing an Old Master painting,” says the car brand’s Chief Design Officer Luca Borgogno. The new wheel design, which has centre-lock forged aluminium wheels reduces the unsprung weight by ten kgs, leading to a sharpened handling dynamism. Together with the performance-oriented tires, the new rims enable the car to achieve its top speed of 350 kms per hour.
The car’s bespoke details include its unique seats, finished in sustainably crafted black leather and black Alcantara, an engraved chassis plate, headlight engraving, ‘Anniversario’ script on the side wings, and a specially engraved chassis plate between the seats. The GT comes with four electric motors generating 1,900 hp and 2,300 Nm torque, apportioned to each wheel by the most advanced torque vectoring system. Faster than a current Formula 1 car in the sub two second 0-100 kms per hour sprint, the Battista accelerates from 0 to 300 kms per hour in less than 12 seconds. The automobile’s 120 kWh battery pack is the reason behind its levels of performance, delivered alongside a zero-emissions range of over 500 kms.
No more than 150 Battista hypercars, including five Battista Anniversario cars will be hand-crafted in Italy and are expected to enter into production by the end of 2020.
